Hermanos, sean perseverantes en la oración, velando en ella con acción de gracias; oren al mismo tiempo también por nosotros para que Dios nos abra la puerta a la palabra, y podamos anunciar el misterio de Cristo, por cuya causa estoy yo encarcelado, para darlo a conocer anunciándolo como debo. Pórtense prudentemente con los de fuera, aprovechando bien la ocasión. Que su conversación sea siempre amena, sazonada con sal, sabiendo responder a cada cual como conviene. En aquel tiempo, estaba Jesús expulsando un demonio que era mudo, y apenas salió el demonio, rompió a hablar el mudo. La gente quedó admirada, aunque algunos de ellos comentaban: «Éste expulsa los demonios por Beelzebul, Príncipe de los demonios.» Otros, para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían un signo del cielo. Pero él, adivinando sus intenciones, les dijo: «Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo quedará asolado, y una casa se desplomará sobre la otra. Entonces, si también Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo podrá subsistir su reino?... porque dicen que yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul. Si yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul, ¿por quién los expulsan sus hijos? Por eso, ellos serán sus jueces. Pero si yo expulso los demonios por el dedo de Dios, señal de que ha llegado a ustedes el Reino de Dios. Cuando uno fuerte y bien armado custodia su palacio, sus bienes están en seguro; pero si llega uno más fuerte que él y le vence, le quita las armas en las que estaba confiado y reparte sus despojos. El que no está conmigo, está contra mí; y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus was casting out a demon that was dumb; when the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke, and the people marveled. But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons”; while others, to test him, sought from him a sign from heaven. It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
