Hermanos, juzgo que todo es pérdida ante la sublimidad del conocimiento de Cristo Jesús, mi Señor. Por él perdí todas las cosas; incluso las tengo por basura para ganar a Cristo y encontrarme arraigado en él, no mediante mi justicia, la que viene de la Ley, sino mediante la que viene por la fe en Cristo, la justicia que viene de Dios, apoyada en la fe. Pretendo así conocerle a él, sentir el poder de su resurrección y participar en sus padecimientos, haciéndome semejante a él en la muerte y tratando de llegar a la resurrección de entre los muertos. No es que lo dé ya por conseguido o que crea que ya soy perfecto; más bien continúo mi carrera por ver si puedo alcanzarlo, como Cristo Jesús me alcanzó a mí. Por mi parte, hermanos, no creo haberlo conseguido todavía. Sin embargo, olvido lo que dejé atrás y me lanzo a lo que está por delante, corriendo hacia la meta, al premio a que Dios me llama desde lo alto en Cristo Jesús. Así pues, todos los perfectos tengamos estos sentimientos; y si en algo piensan de otra manera, también eso se lo hará ver Dios. Por lo demás, desde el punto a donde hayamos llegado, sigamos en la misma dirección. Hermanos, sean imitadores míos, y fíjense en los que viven según el modelo que ven en nosotros. Porque muchos viven, según les dije tantas veces —y ahora se lo repito con lágrimas—, como enemigos de la cruz de Cristo, cuyo final es la perdición. Brethren, I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ, and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, based on law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith; that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that if possible I may attain that resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature be thus minded; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained. En aquel tiempo, los soldados llegaron a un lugar llamado Gólgota, esto es, «Calvario», y le dieron a beber vino mezclado con hiel; pero él, después de probarlo, no quiso beberlo. Una vez que le crucificaron, se repartieron sus vestidos, echando a suertes. Y se quedaron sentados allí para custodiarle. Sobre su cabeza pusieron, por escrito, la causa de su condena: «Este es Jesús, el Rey de los judíos.» Y al mismo tiempo que a él crucifican a dos salteadores, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda. Los que pasaban por allí le insultaban, meneando la cabeza y diciendo: «Tú que destruyes el Santuario y en tres días lo levantas, ¡sálvate a ti mismo, si eres Hijo de Dios, y baja de la cruz!» Igualmente los sumos sacerdotes junto con los escribas y los ancianos se burlaban de él diciendo: «A otros salvó y a sí mismo no puede salvarse. Rey de Israel es: que baje ahora de la cruz, y creeremos en él. Ha puesto su confianza en Dios; que le salve ahora, si es que de verdad le quiere; ya que dijo: “Soy Hijo de Dios.”» De la misma manera le injuriaban también los salteadores crucificados con él. Desde la hora sexta hubo oscuridad sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora nona. Y alrededor de la hora nona clamó Jesús con fuerte voz: = «¡Elí, Elí! ¿lemá sabactaní?», esto es: «¡Dios mío, Dios mío! ¿por qué me has abandonado?» Al oírlo algunos de los que estaban allí decían: «A Elías llama éste.» Y enseguida uno de ellos fue corriendo a tomar una esponja, la empapó en vinagre y, sujetándola a una caña, le ofrecía de beber. Pero los otros dijeron: «Deja, vamos a ver si viene Elías a salvarle.» Pero Jesús, dando de nuevo un fuerte grito, exhaló el espíritu. En esto, el velo del Santuario se rasgó en dos, de arriba abajo; tembló la tierra y las rocas se hendieron. Se abrieron los sepulcros, y muchos cuerpos de santos difuntos resucitaron. Y, saliendo de los sepulcros después de la resurrección de él, entraron en la Ciudad Santa y se aparecieron a muchos. Por su parte, el centurión y los que con él estaban guardando a Jesús, al ver el terremoto y lo que pasaba, se llenaron de miedo y dijeron: «Verdaderamente éste era Hijo de Dios.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, when the soldiers came to a place called Golgotha (which means the place of a skull), they offered Jesus wine to drink, mingled with gall; but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself!
