Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, ustedes son templo de Dios vivo, como dijo Dios: Habitaré en medio de ellos y caminaré entre ellos; yo seré su Dios y ellos serán mi pueblo. Por tanto, salgan de entre ellos y apártense, dice el Señor. No toquen cosa impura, y yo los acogeré. Yo seré para ustedes un padre, y ustedes serán para mí hijos e hijas, dice el Señor todopoderoso. En aquel tiempo, estando Jesús a la orilla del lago de Genesaret, la gente se agolpaba a su alrededor para oír la palabra de Dios. En esto vio dos barcas que estaban a la orilla del lago. Los pescadores habían bajado de ellas y estaban lavando las redes. Subió entonces a una de las barcas, que era de Simón, y le rogó que se alejara un poco de tierra. Se sentó y empezó a enseñar desde la barca a la muchedumbre. Cuando acabó de hablar, dijo a Simón: «Boga mar adentro, y echen sus redes para pescar.» Simón le respondió: «Maestro, hemos estado bregando toda la noche y no hemos pescado nada; pero, basta que tú lo dices, echaré las redes.» Así lo hicieron, y pescaron tan gran cantidad de peces que las redes amenazaban con romperse. Entonces llamaron por señas a los compañeros de la otra barca para que vinieran en su ayuda. Vinieron, pues, y llenaron tanto las dos barcas que casi se hundían. Al verlo, Simón Pedro cayó a las rodillas de Jesús, diciendo: «Aléjate de mí, Señor, que soy un hombre pecador.» Y es que el asombro se había apoderado de él y de cuantos con él estaban, a causa de los peces que habían capturado. Y lo mismo les ocurrió a Santiago y a Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que eran compañeros de Simón. Jesús dijo a Simón: «No temas. At that time, while Jesus was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, he saw two boats by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish; and as their nets were breaking, they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; henceforth you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him. [RSV]
