Hermanos, Dios sometió todo bajo sus pies y le constituyó cabeza suprema de la Iglesia, que es su cuerpo, la plenitud del que lo llena todo en todo. Y a ustedes, que estaban muertos en sus delitos y pecados, en los cuales vivieron en otro tiempo según el proceder de este mundo, según el príncipe del imperio del aire, el espíritu que actúa en los rebeldes... entre ellos vivíamos también todos nosotros en otro tiempo, sujetos a las concupiscencias y apetencias de nuestra naturaleza humana, y a los malos pensamientos, destinados por naturaleza, como los demás. En aquel tiempo, el tetrarca Herodes, a quien había reprendido por el asunto de Herodías, la mujer de su hermano, y por todas las malas acciones que había cometido, añadió a todas ellas la de encerrar a Juan en la cárcel. Toda la gente se estaba bautizando. Jesús, ya bautizado, se hallaba en oración, cuando se abrió el cielo, bajó sobre él el Espíritu Santo en forma corporal, como una paloma, y llegó una voz del cielo: «Tú eres mi hijo; en ti me complazco.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Herod the tetrarch, who had been reproved by John for Herodias, his brother’s wife, and for all the evil things that Herod had done, added this to them all, that he shut up John in prison.
