Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, es Dios el que nos conforta en Cristo a nosotros y a ustedes, y el que nos ungió. Él fue quien nos marcó con su sello y quien puso el Espíritu en nuestros corazones, como arras de lo venidero. Dios es testigo —¡y pondría en juego mi vida!— de que, si todavía no he ido a Corinto, ha sido por consideración a ustedes. Nosotros no pretendemos dominar sobre su fe, pues ya se mantienen firmes en ella; sólo queremos contribuir a su alegría. En mi interior tomé la decisión de no volver a visitarlos, si eso había de causarles tristeza. Porque si yo los entristezco, ¿quién podría alegrarme, sino el que se ha entristecido por mi causa? Y si les escribí aquello, fue para que no me entristeciesen a mi ida precisamente los mismos que deberían procurarme alegría. Pues estaba convencido de que mi alegría y la de ustedes deberían coincidir. Efectivamente, les escribí tremendamente afligido y con el corazón angustiado; incluso lloré. Pero no lo hice para entristecerlos, sino para que se dieran cuenta de lo mucho que los quiero. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has commissioned us; he has put his seal upon us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. But I call God to witness against me — it was to spare you that I refrained from coming to Corinth. Not that we lord it over your faith; we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith. For I made up my mind not to make you another painful visit. For if I cause you pain, who is there to make me glad but the one whom I have pained? And I wrote as I did, so that when I came I might not suffer pain from those who should have made me rejoice, for I felt sure of all of you, that my joy would be the joy of you all. Dijo el Señor esta parábola: «El Reino de los Cielos es semejante a un rey que celebró el banquete de bodas de su hijo. Envió a sus siervos a llamar a los invitados a la boda, pero éstos no quisieron venir. Volvió a enviar otros siervos, con este encargo: Digan a los invitados: ‘Miren, mi banquete está preparado. Ya han sido matados mis novillos y animales cebados, y todo está a punto. Vengan a la boda.’ Pero ellos no hicieron caso y se fueron: el uno a su campo, el otro a su negocio; y los demás agarraron a los siervos, los escarnecieron y los mataron. El rey, enojado, envió sus tropas, dio muerte a aquellos homicidas y prendió fuego a su ciudad. Entonces dijo a sus siervos: ‘La boda está preparada, pero los invitados no eran dignos. Vayan, pues, a los cruces de los caminos e inviten a la boda a cuantos encuentren.’ Los siervos salieron a los caminos, reunieron a todos los que encontraron, malos y buenos, y la sala de bodas se llenó de comensales. Cuando entró el rey a ver a los comensales vio allí a uno que no tenía traje de boda. Le dijo: ‘Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí sin traje de boda?’ Él se quedó callado. Entonces el rey dijo a los sirvientes: ‘Átenlo de pies y manos y échenlo a las tinieblas de fuera; allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes.’ Porque muchos son llamados, mas pocos escogidos.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said this parable, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.’ But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
