Hermanos, no me juzgo en nada inferior a esos «superapóstoles ». Pues si carezco de elocuencia, no así de ciencia; que en todo y en presencia de todos se lo hemos demostrado. ¿Acaso tendré yo culpa porque me abajé a mí mismo para ensalzarlos a ustedes anunciándoles gratuitamente el Evangelio de Dios? A otras Iglesias despojé, recibiendo de ellas con qué vivir para servirles. Y estando entre ustedes y necesitado, no fui gravoso a nadie; fueron los hermanos llegados de Macedonia los que remediaron mi necesidad. Siempre evité el serles gravoso, y lo seguiré evitando. ¡Por la verdad de Cristo que está en mí!, que esta gloria no me será arrebatada en las regiones de Acaya. ¿Por qué? ¿Porque no los amo? ¡Dios lo sabe! Y lo que hago, continuaré haciéndolo para quitar todo pretexto a los que lo buscan con el fin de ser iguales a nosotros en lo que se glorían . Porque esos tales son unos falsos apóstoles, unos trabajadores engañosos, que se disfrazan de apóstoles de Cristo. Y nada tiene de extraño: que el mismo Satanás se disfraza de ángel de luz. Por tanto, no es mucho que sus ministros se disfracen también de ministros de justicia. Pero su fin será conforme a sus obras. Digo una vez más que nadie me tome por necio; pero, aunque sea como necio, permítanme que también me gloríe yo un poco. Lo que les voy a decir, no lo diré según el Señor, sino como en un acceso de locura, seguro de tener algo de qué gloriarme. Ya que tantos otros se glorían según la carne, también yo me voy a gloriar. Gustosos soportan a los necios, ¡ustedes que son sensatos! Soportan que los esclavicen, que los devoren, que les roben, que se engrían, que los abofeteen. Para vergüenza suya lo digo; ¡nos hemos mostrado débiles! [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, I think that I am not in the least inferior to these superlative apostles. Even if I am unskilled in speaking, I am not in knowledge; in every way we have made this plain to you in all things. Did I commit a sin in abasing myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached God’s gospel without cost to you? I robbed other churches by accepting support from them in order to serve you. And when I was with you and was in want, I did not burden any one, for my needs were supplied by the brethren who came from Macedonia. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way. As the truth of Christ is in me, this boast of mine shall not be silenced in the regions of Achaia. And why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do! And what I do I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. I repeat, let no one think me foolish; but even if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little. (What I am saying I say not with the Lord’s authority but as a fool, in this boastful confidence; since many boast of worldly things, I too will boast.) For you gladly bear with fools, being wise yourselves! For you bear it if a man makes slaves of you, or preys upon you, or takes advantage of you, or puts on airs, or strikes you in the face. To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that! [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, Jesús se puso a enseñar a orillas del mar. Y se reunió tanta gente junto a él que hubo de subir a una barca y, ya en el mar, se sentó; toda la gente estaba en tierra a la orilla del mar. Les enseñaba muchas cosas por medio de parábolas. Les decía en su instrucción: «Escuchen. Una vez salió un sembrador a sembrar. Y sucedió que, al sembrar, una parte cayó a lo largo del camino; vinieron las aves y se la comieron. Otra parte cayó en terreno pedregoso, donde no tenía mucha tierra, y brotó en seguida por no tener hondura de tierra; pero cuando salió el sol se agostó y, por no tener raíz, se secó. Otra parte cayó entre espinos; crecieron los espinos y la ahogaron, y no dio fruto. Otras partes cayeron en tierra buena y, creciendo y desarrollándose, dieron fruto; unas produjeron treinta, otras sesenta, otras ciento.» Y decía: «Quien tenga oídos para oír, que oiga.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it had not much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil; and when the sun rose it was scorched, and since it had no root it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain.
