Hermanos, traigan a la memoria los primeros días en que, después de ser iluminados, tuvieron que soportar un duro y doloroso combate, unas veces expuestos públicamente a injurias y ultrajes; otras, haciéndose solidarios de los que así eran tratados. Pues compartieron los sufrimientos de los encarcelados; y se dejaron despojar con alegría de sus bienes, conscientes de que poseían una riqueza mejor y más duradera. No pierdan ahora su confianza, que lleva consigo una gran recompensa. Tienen necesidad de paciencia para cumplir la voluntad de Dios y conseguir así lo prometido. Pues todavía un poco, muy poco tiempo, y el que ha de venir vendrá sin tardanza. Mi justo vivirá por la fe; mas, si es cobarde, mi alma no se complacerá en él. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to abuse and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. En aquel tiempo, Jesús vuelve a casa y se aglomera otra vez la muchedumbre de modo que no podían comer. Se enteraron sus parientes y fueron a hacerse cargo de él, pues decían: «Está fuera de sí.» Los escribas que habían bajado de Jerusalén decían: «Está poseído por Beelzebul» y «por el príncipe de los demonios expulsa los demonios.» Él, llamándolos junto a sí, les decía en parábolas: «¿Cómo puede Satanás expulsar a Satanás? Si un reino está dividido contra sí mismo, ese reino no puede subsistir. Si una casa está dividida contra sí misma, esa casa no podrá subsistir. Y si Satanás se ha alzado contra sí mismo y está dividido, no puede subsistir, pues ha llegado su fin. Pero nadie puede entrar en la casa del fuerte y saquear sus pertenencias, si no ata primero al fuerte; entonces podrá saquear su casa.» [BJ-SAOGM]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
