Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Hermanos, ustedes son la confirmación de que soy apóstol del Señor. Ésta es mi defensa contra quienes me critican. ¿Acaso no tenemos derecho a comer y beber? ¿No tenemos derecho a llevar con nosotros una mujer cristiana, como los demás apóstoles y los hermanos del Señor y Cefas? ¿Sólo Bernabé y yo estamos privados del derecho de que la comunidad corra con nuestro sustento? ¿Qué soldado tiene que cubrir sus propios gastos? ¿Quién planta una viña y no come de sus frutos? ¿Quién apacienta un rebaño y no se alimenta de su leche? No piensen que esto es sólo mi opinión, pues lo dice también la Ley. Porque está escrito en la Ley de Moisés: No pondrás bozal al buey que trilla. ¿Es que se preocupa Dios de los bueyes? ¿No lo dice más bien por nosotros? Cierto que se escribió por nosotros, pues el que ara debe hacerlo con esperanza; y el que trilla lo hace con la esperanza de recibir su parte. Si hemos sembrado en ustedes bienes espirituales, ¡qué menos que recojamos de ustedes bienes materiales! Si otros tienen estos derechos sobre ustedes, con mayor razón los tendremos nosotros. Sin embargo, nunca hemos hecho uso de ellos. Al contrario, todo lo soportamos para no crear obstáculos al Evangelio de Cristo. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. This is my defense to those who would examine me. Do we not have the right to our food and drink? Do we not have the right to be accompanied by a wife as sister, as the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas? Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working for a living? Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard without eating any of its fruit? Who tends a flock without getting some of the milk? Do I say this on human authority? Does not the law say the same? For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox when it is treading out the grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned? Does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of a share in the crop. If we have sown spiritual good among you, is it too much if we reap your material things? If others share this rightful claim upon you, do not we still more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ. [RSV]

Dijo el Señor esta parábola: «El Reino de los Cielos es semejante a un rey que quiso ajustar cuentas con sus siervos. Al empezar a ajustarlas, le fue presentado uno que le debía diez mil talentos. Como no tenía con qué pagar, ordenó el señor que fuese vendido él, su mujer y sus hijos y todo cuanto tenía, y que se le pagase. Entonces el siervo se echó a sus pies, y postrado le decía: ‘Ten paciencia conmigo, que todo te lo pagaré.’ Movido a compasión el señor de aquel siervo, le dejó ir y le perdonó la deuda. Al salir de allí aquel siervo se encontró con uno de sus compañeros, que le debía cien denarios; le agarró y, ahogándolo, le decía: ‘Paga lo que debes.’ Su compañero, cayendo a sus pies, le suplicaba: ‘Ten paciencia conmigo, que ya te pagaré.’ Pero él no quiso, sino que fue y le echó en la cárcel, hasta que pagase lo que debía. Al ver sus compañeros lo ocurrido, se entristecieron mucho, y fueron a contar a su señor todo lo sucedido. Su señor entonces le mandó llamar y le dijo: ‘Siervo malvado, yo te perdoné a ti toda aquella deuda porque me lo suplicaste. ¿No debías tú también compadecerte de tu compañero, del mismo modo que yo me compadecí de ti?’ Y encolerizado su señor, le entregó a los verdugos hasta que pagase todo lo que le debía. Esto mismo hará con ustedes mi Padre celestial, si no perdonan de corazón cada uno a su hermano.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said this parable: “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the reckoning, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents; and as he could not pay, his lord ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ And out of pity for him the lord of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. But that same servant, as he went out, came upon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii; and seizing him by the throat he said, ‘Pay what you owe.’ So his fellow servant fell down and besought him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ He refused and went and put him in prison till he should pay the debt. When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their lord all that had taken place. Then his lord summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you besought me; and should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ And in anger his lord delivered him to the torturers, till he should pay all his debt. So also my heavenly Father will do to everyone of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
