Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Pedro los que cobraban las didracmas y le preguntaron: «¿No paga su Maestro las didracmas?» Respondió él: «Sí.» Cuando llegó a casa, se anticipó Jesús a decirle: «A ver qué te parece, Simón. ¿De quién cobran tasas o tributo los reyes de la tierra, de sus hijos o de los extraños?» Al contestar él: «De los extraños», Jesús le dijo: «Por tanto, libres están los hijos. Sin embargo, para que no les sirvamos de escándalo, vete al mar y echa el anzuelo. Coge el primer pez que salga, ábrele la boca y encontrarás un estáter. Tómalo y dáselo por mí y por ti.» En aquel momento se acercaron a Jesús los discípulos y le preguntaron: «¿Quién es el mayor en el Reino de los Cielos?» Él llamó a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos y dijo: «Les aseguro que si no cambian y se hacen como los niños, no entrarán en el Reino de los Cielos. At that time, the collectors of the half-shekel tax went up to Peter and said, “Does not your teacher pay the tax?” He said, “Yes.” And when he came home, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute? From their sons or from others?” And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel; take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.” At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them, and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
