Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

La memoria del justo es digna de la alabanza, pero te es suficiente el testimonio del Señor, oh Precursor. Porque, en verdad, te manifestaste más honorable que los profetas, pues has sido merecedor de bautizar en las corrientes del Jordán a Aquél que había sido anunciado. Por tanto, después de haber luchado gozosamente por la Verdad, anunciaste a aquellos que moraban en el Hades, a Dios que se manifiesta en la carne y borra el pecado del mundo, concediéndonos la gran misericordia. The memory of the just is observed with hymns of praise; for you suffices the testimony of the Lord, O Forerunner. You have proved to be truly more ven’rable than the Prophets, since you were granted to baptize in the river the One whom they proclaimed. Therefore, when for the truth you had contested, rejoicing, to those in Hades you preached the Gospel, that God was manifested in the flesh, and takes away the sin of the world, and grants to us the great mercy. Los Doce convocaron la asamblea de los discípulos y dijeron: «No está bien que abandonemos la palabra de Dios por servir a las mesas. Por tanto, hermanos, busquen de entre ustedes a siete hombres de buena fama, llenos de Espíritu y de saber, para ponerlos al frente de esa tarea; mientras que nosotros nos dedicaremos a la oración y al ministerio de la palabra.» La propuesta pareció bien a toda la asamblea, y eligieron a Esteban, hombre lleno de fe y de Espíritu Santo, a Felipe, a Prócoro, a Nicanor, a Timón, a Pármenas y a Nicolás, prosélito antioqueno. In those days, when the disciples were increasing in number, the Hellenists murmured against the Hebrews because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. Therefore, brethren, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this duty. Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Yo les aseguro que todo lo que aten en la tierra quedará atado en el cielo, y todo lo que desaten en la tierra quedará desatado en el cielo. Les aseguro también que si dos de ustedes se ponen de acuerdo en la tierra para pedir algo, sea lo que fuere, lo conseguirán de mi Padre que está en los cielos. Porque donde están dos o tres reunidos en mi nombre, allí estoy yo, en medio de ellos.» Pedro se acercó entonces y le preguntó: «Señor, ¿cuántas veces tengo que perdonar las ofensas que me haga mi hermano? ¿Hasta siete veces?» Le respondió Jesús: «No te digo hasta siete veces, sino hasta setenta veces siete.» Cuando acabó Jesús estos discursos, partió de Galilea y fue a la región de Judea, al otro lado del Jordán. Le siguió mucha gente, y los curó allí. Entonces le fueron presentados unos niños para que les impusiera las manos y orase; pero los discípulos les reñían. Mas Jesús les dijo: «Dejen que los niños vengan a mí; y no se lo impidan, porque de los que son como éstos es el Reino de los Cielos.» Y, después de imponerles las manos, se fue de allí. [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.” Now when Jesus had finished these sayings, he went away from Galilee and entered the region of Judea beyond the Jordan; and large crowds followed him, and he healed them there. Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people; but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away. [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
