Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, considérense como muertos al pecado y vivos para Dios en Cristo Jesús. No reine, pues, el pecado en su cuerpo mortal de modo que obedezcan a sus apetencias. Ni hagan ya de sus miembros instrumentos de injusticia al servicio del pecado; sino más bien ofrézcanse ustedes mismos a Dios como muertos retornados a la vida; y sus miembros, como instrumentos de justicia al servicio de Dios. Pues el pecado no dominará ya sobre ustedes, ya que no están bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia. Pues ¿qué? ¿Pecaremos porque no estamos bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia? ¡De ningún modo!. ¿No saben que al ofrecerse a alguno como esclavos para obedecerle, se hacen esclavos de aquel a quien obedecen: bien del pecado, para la muerte, bien de la obediencia, para la justicia? Brethren, you must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal bodies, to make you obey their passions. Do not yield your members to sin as instruments of wickedness, but yield yourselves to God as men who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments of righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you yield yourselves to any one as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo: al llegar Jesús a casa de Pedro, vio a la suegra de éste en cama, con fiebre. Le tocó la mano y la fiebre la dejó; y se levantó y se puso a servirle. Al atardecer, le trajeron muchos endemoniados; él expulsó a los espíritus con una palabra, y curó a todos los enfermos, para que se cumpliera lo dicho por el profeta Isaías: ‘Él tomó nuestras debilidades y cargó con nuestras dolencias’. Viéndose Jesús rodeado de la muchedumbre, mandó pasar a la otra orilla. Y un escriba se acercó y le dijo: «Maestro, te seguiré adondequiera que vayas.» Le dice Jesús: «Las zorras tienen guaridas, y las aves del cielo nidos; pero el Hijo del hombre no tiene donde reclinar la cabeza.» Otro de los discípulos le dijo: «Señor, déjame ir primero a enterrar a mi padre.» Le dice Jesús: «Sígueme, y deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos.» Subió a la barca y sus discípulos le siguieron. At that time, when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever; he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and served him. That evening they brought to him many who were possessed with demons; and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” Now when Jesus saw great crowds around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side. And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.” Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.” And when he entered the boat, his disciples followed him. Ἰδὼν δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς πολλοὺς ὄχλους περὶ αὐτὸν ἐκέλευσεν ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὸ πέραν. Καὶ προσελθὼν εἷς γραμματεὺς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· διδάσκαλε, ἀκολουθήσω σοι ὅπου ἐὰν ἀπέρχῃ. καὶ λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· αἱ ἀλώπεκες φωλεοὺς ἔχουσι καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ κατασκηνώσεις, ὁ δὲ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἔχει ποῦ τὴν κεφαλὴν κλίνῃ. Ἕτερος δὲ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Κύριε, ἐπίτρεψόν μοι πρῶτον ἀπελθεῖν καὶ θάψαι τὸν πατέρα μου. ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· ἀκολούθει μοι, καὶ ἄφες τοὺς νεκροὺς θάψαι τοὺς ἑαυτῶν νεκρούς. Καὶ ἐμβάντι αὐτῷ εἰς τὸ πλοῖον ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ.

Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Θεοτόκον.
Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
