Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, la ira de Dios se revela desde el cielo contra las maldades e injusticias de los hombres que aprisionan la verdad con la injusticia, pues ellos tienen claro lo que se puede conocer de Dios, ya que el propio Dios se lo manifestó. Porque lo invisible de Dios, desde la creación del mundo, se manifiesta a la inteligencia a través de sus obras: su poder eterno y su divinidad. En consecuencia, son inexcusables, porque, habiendo conocido a Dios, no lo alabaron como a Dios, ni le dieron gracias; antes bien se ofuscaron en sus razonamientos y su insensato corazón se entenebreció. Jactándose de sabios, se volvieron necios, y cambiaron la gloria del Dios incorruptible por una representación en forma de hombres corruptibles, de aves, de cuadrúpedos, de reptiles. Por eso, Dios los entregó a sus apetencias y deseos, hasta un grado de impureza tal que deshonraron entre sí sus propios cuerpos. Ellos cambiaron la verdad de Dios por la mentira, y adoraron y sirvieron a la criatura en vez de al Creador, que es bendito por los siglos. Amén. Por eso, los entregó Dios a pasiones infames, pues sus mujeres invirtieron las relaciones naturales por otras contra la naturaleza. Igualmente los hombres, abandonando la relación natural con la mujer, se abrasaron en deseos los unos por los otros; cometieron actos infames hombres con hombres y, en consecuencia, recibieron en sí mismos el pago merecido de su extravío. Brethren, the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of men who by their wickedness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse; for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man or birds or animals or reptiles. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever! Amen. For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos; «Si su justicia no es mayor que la de los escribas y fariseos, no entrarán en el Reino de los Cielos. Han oído que se dijo a los antepasados: ‘No matarás, pues el que mate será reo ante el tribunal’. Pues yo les digo que todo aquel que se encolerice contra su hermano será reo ante el tribunal; el que llame a su hermano ‘imbécil’ será reo ante el Sanedrín; y el que le llame ‘renegado’ será reo de la Gehenna de fuego. Entonces, si al momento de presentar tu ofrenda en el altar te acuerdas de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti, deja tu ofrenda allí, delante del altar, y vete primero a reconciliarte con tu hermano. Luego vuelves y presentas tu ofrenda. Ponte enseguida a buenas con tu adversario mientras vas con él de camino, no sea que tu adversario te entregue al juez y el juez al guardia, y te metan en la cárcel. Yo te aseguro que no saldrás de allí hasta que no hayas pagado el último céntimo.» [BJ-SAOGM]
Jesus said to his disciples, “Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. You have heard that it was said to the men of old, ‘You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother without cause shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
