Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Por aquellos días, Pablo y sus compañeros se hicieron a la mar en Pafos y llegaron a Perge de Panfilia. Pero Juan se separó de ellos y se volvió a Jerusalén, mientras que ellos, partiendo de Perge, llegaron a Antioquía de Pisidia. El sábado entraron en la sinagoga y tomaron asiento. Después de la lectura de la Ley y los Profetas, los jefes de la sinagoga les mandaron a decir: «Hermanos, si tienen alguna palabra de exhortación para el pueblo, hablen.» Pablo se levantó, hizo señal con la mano y dijo: «Israelitas y cuantos temen a Dios, escuchen: El Dios de este pueblo, Israel, eligió a nuestros antepasados, engrandeció al pueblo durante su permanencia en el país de Egipto y los sacó de allí con su poderoso brazo. Durante unos cuarenta años los rodeó de cuidados en el desierto; después, tras exterminar a siete naciones en la tierra de Canaán, les dio en herencia su tierra, por unos cuatrocientos cincuenta años. Después de esto les dio jueces hasta el profeta Samuel. Luego pidieron un rey, y Dios les dio a Saúl, hijo de Cis, de la tribu de Benjamín, durante cuarenta años. Depuso a éste y les suscitó por rey a David, de quien precisamente dio este testimonio: He encontrado a David, el hijo de Jesé, un hombre según mi corazón, que realizará todo lo que yo quiera. De su descendencia, Dios, según la Promesa, ha suscitado para Israel un Salvador, Jesús. In those days, Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia. And John left them and returned to Jerusalem; but they passed on from Perga and came to Antioch of Pisidia. And on the sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it.” So Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said: “Men of Israel, and you that fear God, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our fathers and made the people great during their stay in the land of Egypt, and with uplifted arm he led them out of it. And for about forty years he bore with them in the wilderness. And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land as an inheritance, for about four hundred and fifty years. And after that he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. Then they asked for a king; and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king; of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised. Before his coming John had preached a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.” [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, al levantar Jesús los ojos y ver que venía hacia él tanta gente, preguntó a Felipe: «¿Dónde nos procuraremos panes para que coman éstos?» Se lo decía para probarle, porque él ya sabía lo que iba a hacer. Felipe le contestó: «Doscientos denarios de pan no bastan para que cada uno coma un poco.» Uno de sus discípulos, Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, le dijo: «Aquí hay un muchacho que tiene cinco panes de cebada y dos peces; pero ¿qué es eso para tantos?» Replicó Jesús: «Hagan que se recueste la gente.» (Había en el lugar mucha hierba.) La gente se recostó: eran unos cinco mil. Tomó entonces Jesús los panes y, después de dar gracias, los repartió entre los que estaban recostados, y lo mismo los peces. Comieron todo lo que quisieron. Cuando se saciaron, dijo a sus discípulos: «Recojan los trozos sobrantes para que nada se pierda.» Los recogieron, pues, y llenaron doce canastos con los trozos de los cinco panes de cebada que sobraron a los que habían comido. Al ver la gente el signo que había realizado, comentaba: «Éste es verdaderamente el profeta que iba a venir al mundo.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, “How are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” This he said to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.” One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what are they among so many?” Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place; so the men sat down, in number about five thousand. Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated; so also the fish, as much as they wanted. And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the fragments left over, that nothing may be lost.” So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves, left by those who had eaten. When the people saw the sign which he had done, they said, “This is indeed the prophet who is to come into the world!” [RSV]

Οἱ οὖν ἄνθρωποι, ἰδόντες ὃ ἐποίησε σημεῖον ὁ Ἰησοῦς, ἔλεγον ὅτι οὗτός ἐστιν ἀληθῶς ὁ προφήτης ὁ ἐρχόμενος εἰς τὸν κόσμον.
