Al mediodía, yendo de camino vi, majestad, una luz que venía del cielo, más resplandeciente que el sol, que me envolvió a mí y a mis compañeros en su resplandor. Caímos todos a tierra y pude oír una voz que me decía en lengua hebrea: ‘Saúl, Saúl, ¿por qué me persigues? Te va a resultar duro dar coces contra el aguijón.’ Yo respondí: ‘¿Quién eres, Señor?’ El Señor me dijo: ‘Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues. Pero levántate, ponte en pie. Dijo el Señor a los judíos que vinieron a Él: «Yo soy la luz del mundo; el que me siga no caminará en la oscuridad, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida.» Los fariseos le dijeron: «Tú das testimonio de ti mismo: tu testimonio no vale.» Jesús les respondió: «Aunque yo dé testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio vale, porque sé de dónde he venido y a dónde voy; pero ustedes no saben de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy. Ustedes juzgan según la carne, yo no juzgo a nadie; y si juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no estoy yo solo, sino yo y el que me ha enviado. Y en su Ley está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas es válido. Yo soy el que doy testimonio de mí mismo y también el que me ha enviado, el Padre, da testimonio de mí.» Entonces le decían: «¿Dónde está tu Padre?» Respondió Jesús: «No me conocen ni a mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocieran a mí, conocerían también a mi Padre.» Estas palabras las pronunció en el Tesoro, mientras enseñaba en el Templo. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
