Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Por aquellos días, Agripa dijo a Pablo: «Se te permite hablar en tu favor.» Entonces Pablo extendió su mano y empezó su defensa: «En este empeño me dirigí a Damasco con plenos poderes y la autorización de los sumos sacerdotes. Al mediodía, yendo de camino vi, majestad, una luz que venía del cielo, más resplandeciente que el sol, que me envolvió a mí y a mis compañeros en su resplandor. Caímos todos a tierra y pude oír una voz que me decía en lengua hebrea: ‘Saúl, Saúl, ¿por qué me persigues? Te va a resultar duro dar coces contra el aguijón.’ Yo respondí: ‘¿Quién eres, Señor?’ El Señor me dijo: ‘Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues. Pero levántate, ponte en pie. Me he aparecido a ti para constituirte servidor y testigo tanto de las cosas que de mí has visto como de las que te manifestaré. But rise and stand upon your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you to serve and bear witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, delivering you from the people and from the Gentiles — to whom I send you to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ After that, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God and perform deeds worthy of their repentance.” [RSV]

Dijo el Señor a los judíos que vinieron a Él: «Yo soy la luz del mundo; el que me siga no caminará en la oscuridad, sino que tendrá la luz de la vida.» Los fariseos le dijeron: «Tú das testimonio de ti mismo: tu testimonio no vale.» Jesús les respondió: «Aunque yo dé testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio vale, porque sé de dónde he venido y a dónde voy; pero ustedes no saben de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy. Ustedes juzgan según la carne, yo no juzgo a nadie; y si juzgo, mi juicio es verdadero, porque no estoy yo solo, sino yo y el que me ha enviado. Y en su Ley está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas es válido. Yo soy el que doy testimonio de mí mismo y también el que me ha enviado, el Padre, da testimonio de mí.» Entonces le decían: «¿Dónde está tu Padre?» Respondió Jesús: «No me conocen ni a mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocieran a mí, conocerían también a mi Padre.» Estas palabras las pronunció en el Tesoro, mientras enseñaba en el Templo. The Lord said to the Jews who came to him, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The Pharisees then said to him, “You are bearing witness to yourself; your testimony is not true.” Jesus answered, “Even if I do bear witness to myself, my testimony is true, for I know whence I have come and whither I am going, but you do not know whence I come or whither I am going. You judge according to the flesh, I judge no one. Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for it is not I alone that judge, but I and the Father who sent me. In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true; I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me.” They said to him therefore, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me nor my Father; if you knew me, you would know my Father also.” These words he spoke in the treasury, as he taught in the temple; but no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
