Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, humíllense bajo la poderosa mano de Dios para que, llegada la ocasión, los ensalce; confíenle todas sus preocupaciones, pues él cuida de ustedes. Sean sobrios y velen. Su adversario, el diablo, ronda como león rugiente, buscando a quién devorar. Resístanle firmes en la fe, sabiendo que sus hermanos que están en el mundo soportan los mismos sufrimientos. Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Quien a ustedes los escucha, a mí me escucha; quien a ustedes los rechaza, a mí me rechaza; y quien me rechaza a mí, rechaza al que me ha enviado.» Regresaron los setenta y dos y dijeron alegres: «Señor, hasta los demonios se nos someten en tu nombre.» Él les dijo: «Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo. Miren, les he dado el poder de pisotear serpientes y escorpiones, así como cualquier demostración de fuerza del enemigo; nada les podrá hacer daño. Pero no se alegren de que los espíritus se les sometan; alégrense de que sus nombres estén escritos en los cielos.» En aquel momento, se llenó de gozo Jesús en el Espíritu Santo y dijo: «Yo te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque has ocultado estas cosas a sabios e inteligentes y se las has revelado a gente sencilla. The Lord said to his disciples, “He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” In that same hour he rejoiced in the spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing before you.” [RSV]
