Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Adelantándose al alba las mujeres que estaban con María, encontraron la piedra apartada del sepulcro, y oyeron al Ángel decirles: ¿Por qué buscáis como a un muerto al que mora en la luz eterna? He aquí el sudario. Corred y anunciad al mundo que el Señor ha resucitado, habiendo dado muerte a la muerte, porque es el Hijo de Dios, que salva a la humanidad. [SAOGM]

When the women with Mary had come before dawn, and they found that the stone had been rolled away from the sepulcher, they heard from the Angel, “Why do you seek among the dead, as a mortal man, the One who exists in everlasting light? Por aquellos días, Pedro dijo al pueblo: «Israelitas, escuchen estas palabras: A Jesús, el Nazareno, hombre acreditado por Dios ante ustedes con milagros, prodigios y signos que Dios realizó por su medio entre ustedes, como ustedes mismos saben, a éste, que fue entregado según el determinado designio y previo conocimiento de Dios, ustedes lo mataron clavándolo en la cruz por mano de unos impíos; a éste Dios le resucitó librándolo de los lazos del Abismo, pues no era posible que lo retuviera bajo su dominio; porque David dice refiriéndose a él: Veía constantemente al Señor delante de mí, puesto que está a mi derecha para que no vacile. Por eso se ha alegrado mi corazón y alborozado mi lengua, y hasta mi carne reposará, en la esperanza de que no abandonarás mi alma en el Abismo ni permitirás que tu santo experimente la corrupción. In those days, Peter said to the people, “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs which God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. But God raised him up, having loosed the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. For David says concerning him, ‘I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken; therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; moreover my flesh will dwell in hope. For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor let your Holy One see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’ Brethren, I may say to you confidently of the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne, he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear. En aquel tiempo, Juan se encontraba de nuevo allí con dos de sus discípulos. Fijándose en Jesús que pasaba, dijo: «He ahí el Cordero de Dios». Al oírle hablar así, los dos discípulos siguieron a Jesús. Jesús se volvió y, al ver que le seguían, les preguntó: «¿Qué buscan?» Ellos le respondieron: «Rabbí —que quiere decir ‘Maestro’—, ¿dónde vives?» Les respondió: «Vengan y lo verán.» Fueron, pues, vieron dónde vivía y se quedaron con él aquel día. Era más o menos la hora décima. Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro, era uno de los dos que habían oído a Juan y habían seguido a Jesús. Andrés encuentra primero a su propio hermano, Simón, y le dijo: «Hemos encontrado al Mesías» —que quiere decir, Cristo—. Y le llevó donde Jesús. Has de ver cosas mayores.» Y añadió: «En verdad, en verdad les digo: verán el cielo abierto y a los ángeles de Dios subir y bajar sobre el Hijo del hombre.» [BJ-SAOGM]

At that time, John was standing with two of his disciples; and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, “What do you seek?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying; and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “So you are Simon the son of Jonah? You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter). The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. And he found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You shall see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.” [RSV]
