Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, ha llegado la última hora. Han oído que vendría un Anticristo; y la verdad es que han aparecido muchos anticristos. Por eso nos damos cuenta que ha llegado la última hora. Salieron de entre nosotros, aunque no eran de los nuestros. Pues si hubiesen sido de los nuestros, habrían permanecido con nosotros. Así se ha puesto de manifiesto que no todos son de los nuestros. Ustedes han recibido la unción del Santo, y todos ustedes lo saben. No les escribí porque desconozcan la verdad, sino porque ya la conocen y saben que ningún mentiroso procede de la verdad. ¿Quién es el mentiroso, sino el que niega que Jesús es el Cristo? Ése es precisamente el Anticristo, el que niega al Padre y al Hijo. Todo el que niega al Hijo no posee al Padre; pero todo el que confiesa al Hijo posee también al Padre. En cuanto a ustedes, deseo que sigan conservando lo que oyeron desde el principio. Si permanece en ustedes lo que oyeron desde el principio, también ustedes permanecerán en el Hijo y en el Padre. Pues ésta es la promesa que él mismo les hizo: la vida eterna. Les he escrito esto porque algunos tratan de engañarlos. Pero tengan presente que la unción que de él han recibido sigue estando en ustedes y no necesitan que nadie los enseñe. Pero como su unción los enseña todo lo que necesitan saber —y es verdadera y no mentirosa—, sigan permaneciendo en él. Como les digo, hijos míos, permanezcan en él para que, cuando se manifieste, nuestra confianza sea plena y no quedemos avergonzados y rechazados en su Venida. Si saben que él es justo, reconozcan que quien hace lo que es justo ha nacido de él. Miren qué amor nos ha tenido el Padre para llamarnos hijos de Dios, pues ¡lo somos! Por eso el mundo no nos conoce, porque no le reconoció a él. Queridos, ahora somos hijos de Dios, pero aún no se ha manifestado lo que seremos. Sabemos que, cuando se manifieste, seremos semejantes a él, porque le veremos tal cual es. Quien tiene esta esperanza en él se purifica, porque él es puro. Todo el que comete pecado comete una acción malvada, pues el pecado es la maldad. Y saben que él se manifestó para borrar los pecados, pues en él no hay pecado. Quien permanece en él, no peca; por eso, el que peca no le ha visto ni conocido. Hijos míos, que nadie los engañe: el que obra la justicia es justo, porque él es justo. Quien comete el pecado es del diablo, porque el diablo ha pecado desde el principio, y el Hijo de Dios se manifestó para deshacer las obras del diablo. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out, that it might be plain that they all are not of us. But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all know that I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and know that no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he has promised us, eternal life. I write this to you about those who would deceive you; but the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him. And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that every one who does right is born of him. See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And every one who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who does right is righteous, as he is righteous. He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. [RSV]

Ἴδετε ποταπὴν ἀγάπην δέδωκεν ἡμῖν ὁ πατὴρ ἵνα τέκνα Θεοῦ κληθῶμεν. διὰ τοῦτο ὁ κόσμος οὐ γινώσκει ἡμᾶς, ὅτι οὐκ ἔγνω αὐτόν. En aquel tiempo, cuando se aproximaban a Jerusalén, cerca ya de Betfagé y Betania, al pie del monte de los Olivos, Jesús envió a dos de sus discípulos con este encargo: «Vayan al pueblo que tienen enfrente y, no bien hayan entrado en él, encontrarán un pollino atado, sobre el que no ha montado todavía ningún hombre. Desátenlo y tráiganlo. Y si alguien les pregunta: ‘¿Por qué hacen eso?’, digan: ‘El Señor lo necesita, pero lo devolverá en seguida’.» Fueron y encontraron el pollino atado junto a una puerta, fuera, en la calle, y lo desataron. Algunos de los que estaban allí les dijeron: «¿Qué hacen desatando el pollino?» Ellos les contestaron según les había dicho Jesús, y les dejaron. Llevaron el pollino ante Jesús, echaron encima sus mantos y se sentó sobre él. Muchos extendieron sus mantos por el camino; otros, follaje cortado de los campos. Los que iban delante y los que le seguían, gritaban: «¡Hosanna! ¡Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor! ¡Bendito el reino que viene, de nuestro padre David! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!» Jesús entró en Jerusalén, en el Templo, y, después de observar todo a su alrededor, siendo ya tarde, salió con los Doce para Betania. At that time, as Jesus drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it. If any one says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door out in the open street; and they untied it. And those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” And they told them what Jesus had said; and they let them go. And they brought the colt to Jesus, and threw their garments on it; and he sat upon it. And many spread their garments on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming! Hosanna in the highest!” And he entered Jerusalem, and went into the temple; and when he had looked round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. [RSV]
