Timoteo, hijo mío, tú me has seguido asiduamente en mis enseñanzas, conducta, planes, fe, paciencia, caridad, constancia, en mis persecuciones y sufrimientos, como los que soporté en Antioquía, en Iconio, en Listra. ¡Qué persecuciones hube de sufrir! Pero de todas me libró el Señor. Además, todos los que quieran vivir piadosamente en Cristo Jesús tendrán que soportar persecuciones. En cambio, los malos y los embaucadores irán de mal en peor; serán seductores y a la vez seducidos. Tú, en cambio, persevera en lo que aprendiste y en lo que creíste, teniendo presente de quiénes lo aprendiste. Recuerda que desde niño conoces las sagradas Letras; ellas pueden proporcionarte la sabiduría que lleva a la salvación mediante la fe en Cristo Jesús. [BJ-SAOGM]
Timothy, my son, you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, my persecutions, my sufferings, what befell me at Antioch, at Iconion, and at Lystra, what persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceivers and deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Dijo el Señor esta parábola: «Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno fariseo y otro publicano. El fariseo, de pie, oraba en su interior de esta manera: ‘¡Oh Dios! Te doy gracias porque no soy como los demás hombres: rapaz, injusto y adúltero; ni tampoco como este publicano. Ayuno dos veces por semana y doy el diezmo de todas mis ganancias.’ En cambio el publicano, manteniéndose a distancia, no se atrevía ni a alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho y decía: ‘¡Oh Dios! ¡Ten compasión de mí, que soy pecador!’ Les digo que éste regresó a su casa justificado, y aquél no. Porque todo el que se ensalce será humillado, y el que se humille será ensalzado.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said this parable, “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.” [RSV]

Hermanos, sabemos que en todas las cosas interviene Dios para bien de los que le aman, de aquellos que han sido llamados según su designio. Pues Dios predestinó a reproducir la imagen de su Hijo a los que conoció de antemano, para que así fuera su Hijo el primogénito entre muchos hermanos. Y a los que predestinó, también los llamó; y a los que llamó, también los hizo justos; y a los que hizo justos, también los glorificó. Ante esto, ¿qué podemos decir? Si Dios está por nosotros, ¿quién estará contra nosotros? Si Él no perdonó ni a su propio Hijo (antes bien lo entregó por todos nosotros), ¿cómo no va a darnos con él gratuitamente todas las cosas? ¿Quién acusará a los elegidos de Dios? Dios es quien justifica. ¿Quién condenará? ¿Acaso Cristo Jesús, que murió; más aún, que resucitó, que está a la diestra de Dios y que intercede por nosotros? ¿Quién nos separará del amor de Cristo? ¿La tribulación?, ¿la angustia?, ¿la persecución?, ¿el hambre?, ¿la desnudez?, ¿los peligros?, ¿la espada? Como dice la Escritura: “Por ti nos matan cada día, nos tratan como a ovejas de matadero.” Pero en todo esto salimos más que vencedores gracias a aquel que nos amó. Pues estoy seguro de que ni la muerte ni la vida, ni los ángeles ni los principados, ni lo presente ni lo futuro, ni las potestades, ni la altura ni la profundidad, ni cualquier otra criatura podrá separarnos del amor de Dios manifestado en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro. Brethren, we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren. And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified. What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies; who is to condemn? Is it Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Miren, les he dado el poder de pisotear serpientes y escorpiones, así como cualquier demostración de fuerza del enemigo; nada les podrá hacer daño. Pero no se alegren de que los espíritus se les sometan; alégrense de que sus nombres estén escritos en los cielos.» En aquel momento, se llenó de gozo Jesús en el Espíritu Santo y dijo: «Yo te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque has ocultado estas cosas a sabios e inteligentes y se las has revelado a gente sencilla. Sí, Padre, pues tal ha sido tu decisión.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing before you.” [RSV]

Oh Creador de las alturas y las profundidades, así como aceptas el Trisagio de los ángeles acepta el Triodio de los humanos.
O Creator of all in earth and in heaven, As You receive the thrice-holy hymn from the Angels, So also accept the Triodion from us humans.
Ὁ δημιουργὸς τῶν ἄνω καὶ τῶν κάτω, Τρισάγιον μὲν ὕμνον ἐκ τῶν Ἀγγέλων, Τριῴδιον δὲ καὶ παρʼ ἀνθρώπων δέχου.
Por las intercesiones de todos tus santos, que realizan grandes obras, oh Cristo nuestro Dios, ten piedad de nosotros y sálvanos. Amén.
By the intercessions of all Your Saints, who have done great things, O Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.
