Por aquellos días, Pablo desembarcó en Cesarea y, después de subir a saludar a la iglesia, bajó a Antioquía. Después de pasar allí algún tiempo, marchó a recorrer una tras otra las regiones de Galacia y Frigia, para fortalecer a todos los discípulos. Llegó a Éfeso un judío llamado Apolo, originario de Alejandría. Era hombre elocuente, que dominaba las Escrituras. Ya había sido instruido en el Camino del Señor, por lo que hablaba y enseñaba con fervor de espíritu y con esmero todo lo referente a Jesús, aunque solamente conocía el bautismo de Juan. Éste, pues, comenzó a hablar con valentía en la sinagoga. Al oírle hablar, lo tomaron consigo Áquila y Priscila y le explicaron con más exactitud el Camino. Como Apolo quería pasar a Acaya, los hermanos le animaron a ello y escribieron a los discípulos para que lo recibieran. Una vez allí, y con el auxilio de la gracia, fue de gran provecho para los que habían creído, pues rebatía vigorosamente en público a los judíos, demostrando por las Escrituras que el Cristo era Jesús. In those days, when Paul had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church, and then went down to Antioch. After spending some time there he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples. Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him and expounded to him the way of God more accurately. And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brethren encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that the Christ was Jesus. [RSV]
Ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις, κατελθὼν ὁ Παῦλος εἰς Καισάρειαν, ἀναβὰς καὶ ἀσπασάμενος τὴν ἐκκλησίαν κατέβη εἰς Ἀντιόχειαν, καὶ ποιήσας χρόνον τινὰ ἐξῆλθε διερχόμενος καθεξῆς τὴν Γαλατικὴν χώραν καὶ Φρυγίαν, ἐπιστηρίζων πάντας τοὺς μαθητάς. Ἰουδαῖος δέ τις Ἀπολλὼς ὀνόματι, Ἀλεξανδρεὺς τῷ γένει, ἀνὴρ λόγιος, κατήντησεν εἰς Ἔφεσον, δυνατὸς ὢν ἐν ταῖς γραφαῖς. οὗτος ἦν κατηχημένος τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ Κυρίου, καὶ ζέων τῷ πνεύματι ἐλάλει καὶ ἐδίδασκεν ἀκριβῶς τὰ περὶ τοῦ Κυρίου, ἐπιστάμενος μόνον τὸ βάπτισμα Ἰωάννου· οὗτός τε ἤρξατο παρρησιάζεσθαι ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ. ἀκούσαντες δὲ αὐτοῦ Ἀκύλας καὶ Πρίσκιλλα προσελάβοντο αὐτὸν καὶ ἀκριβέστερον αὐτῷ ἐξέθεντο τὴν ὁδὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ. βουλομένου δὲ αὐτοῦ διελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Ἀχαΐαν προτρεψάμενοι οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ἔγραψαν τοῖς μαθηταῖς ἀποδέξασθαι αὐτόν· ὃς παραγενόμενος συνεβάλετο πολὺ τοῖς πεπιστευκόσι διὰ τῆς χάριτος. εὐτόνως γὰρ τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις διακατηλέγχετο δημοσίᾳ ἐπιδεικνὺς διὰ τῶν γραφῶν εἶναι τὸν Χριστὸν Ἰησοῦν.

En aquel tiempo, los judíos querían de nuevo prenderle, pero se les escapó de las manos. Se marchó de nuevo al otro lado del Jordán, al lugar donde Juan había estado antes bautizando, y se quedó allí. Muchos acudieron donde él y comentaban: «Juan no realizó ningún signo, pero todo lo que dijo Juan de éste era verdad.» Y muchos allí creyeron en él. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, the Jews tried to arrest Jesus, but he escaped from their hands. He went away again across the Jordan to the place where John at first baptized, and there he remained. And many came to him; and they said, “John did no sign, but everything that John said about this man was true.” And many believed in him there. [RSV]

Καὶ ἀπῆλθε πάλιν πέραν τοῦ ᾿Ιορδάνου, εἰς τὸν τόπον ὅπου ἦν ᾿Ιωάννης τὸ πρῶτον βαπτίζων, καὶ ἔμεινεν ἐκεῖ. καὶ πολλοὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ ἔλεγον ὅτι ᾿Ιωάννης μὲν σημεῖον ἐποίησεν οὐδέν, πάντα δὲ ὅσα εἶπεν ᾿Ιωάννης περὶ τούτου, ἀληθῆ ἦν. καὶ ἐπίστευσαν πολλοὶ ἐκεῖ εἰς αὐτόν.
