Comienzo del Evangelio de Jesús, el Cristo, Hijo de Dios. Conforme está escrito en el profeta Isaías: ‘Voy a enviar a mi mensajero delante de ti, el que ha de preparar tu camino. Voz del que clama en el desierto: Preparen el camino del Señor, enderecen sus sendas’, apareció Juan bautizando en el desierto, proclamando un bautismo de conversión para perdón de los pecados. Acudía a él gente de toda la región de Judea y todos los de Jerusalén, y eran bautizados por él en el río Jordán, tras confesar sus pecados. Juan llevaba un vestido de piel de camello, y se alimentaba de langostas y miel silvestre. Y proclamaba: «Detrás de mí viene uno que es más fuerte que yo; y no soy digno de inclinarme y desatarle la correa de sus sandalias. Yo los he bautizado con agua, pero él los bautizará con Espíritu Santo.» [BJ-SAOGM]

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
