Hermanos, santificador y santificados tienen todos el mismo origen. Por eso, no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos, cuando dice: Anunciaré tu nombre a mis hermanos; en medio de la asamblea te alabaré. Y también: En él pondré yo mi confianza. Y nuevamente: Henos aquí, a mí y a los hijos que Dios me ha dado. Por tanto, del mismo modo que los hijos comparten la sangre y la carne, también él las compartió, para reducir a la impotencia mediante su muerte al que tenía el dominio sobre la muerte, es decir, al diablo, y liberar a los que, por temor a la muerte, estaban de por vida sometidos a esclavitud. Porque, ciertamente, no es a los ángeles a quienes tiende una mano, sino a la descendencia de Abrahán. Por eso tuvo que asemejarse en todo a sus hermanos, para ser un sumo sacerdote misericordioso y fiel en lo que toca a Dios, y expiar los pecados del pueblo. Brethren, he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified have all one origin. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brethren, saying, “I will proclaim your name to my brethren, in the midst of the congregation I will praise you.” And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.” Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same nature, that through death he might destroy him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong bondage. Cuando los magos se fueron, el ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José y le dijo: «Prepárate, toma contigo al niño y a su madre y huye a Egipto; y estate allí hasta que yo te diga. Porque Herodes va a buscar al niño para matarlo.» Él se preparó, tomó de noche al niño y a su madre, y se retiró a Egipto. Y estuvo allí hasta la muerte de Herodes, para que se cumpliera lo dicho por el Señor por medio del profeta: De Egipto llamé a mi hijo. Entonces Herodes, al ver que había sido burlado por los magos, se enfureció terriblemente y mandó matar todos los niños de Belén y de toda su comarca, menores de dos años, según el tiempo que había precisado por los magos. Entonces se cumplió lo dicho por el profeta Jeremías: Un clamor se ha oído en Ramá, mucho llanto y lamento: es Raquel que llora a sus hijos, y no quiere consolarse, porque ya no existen. Muerto Herodes, el ángel del Señor se apareció en sueños a José en Egipto y le dijo: «Prepárate, toma contigo al niño y a su madre, y vete a la tierra de Israel, pues ya han muerto los que querían atentar contra la vida del niño.» Él se preparó, tomó consigo al niño y a su madre, y entró en tierra de Israel. Pero, al enterarse de que Arquelao reinaba en Judea en lugar de su padre Herodes, tuvo miedo de ir allí. It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
