Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Hermanos, vivamos precavidos, no sea que, estando como está en vigor la promesa de entrar en su descanso, alguno de ustedes llegue rezagado. También nosotros hemos recibido la buena nueva, lo mismo que ellos. Pero la palabra que oyeron no les aprovechó, pues no se compenetraron con la fe de los que la escucharon. De hecho, hemos entrado en el descanso los que hemos creído, según está dicho: Por eso juré con ira: ¡No entrarán en mi descanso! Y eso que las obras de Dios estaban terminadas desde la creación del mundo, pues en alguna parte se dice acerca del día séptimo: El día séptimo descansó Dios de todas sus obras. Y también, en el mismo lugar: ¡No entrarán en mi descanso! Así pues, ya que quedan algunos por entrar en él, y dado que los primeros en recibir la buena nueva no entraron a causa de su desobediencia, señaló otro día, un nuevo hoy, diciendo por boca de David mucho después en el lugar citado: Si hoy escuchan su voz, no endurezcan sus corazones. Porque si Josué les hubiera dado el descanso, no se hablaría más tarde de otro día. Por tanto, queda un descanso sabático para el pueblo de Dios, pues quien entra en su descanso también descansa de sus trabajos, como Dios descansó de los suyos. Esforcémonos, pues, por entrar en ese descanso, para que nadie caiga imitando aquella desobediencia. Pues viva es la palabra de Dios y eficaz, y más cortante que cualquier espada de dos filos. Penetra hasta la división entre alma y espíritu, articulaciones y médulas; y discierne sentimientos y pensamientos del corazón. No hay criatura invisible para ella: todo está desnudo y patente a los ojos de Aquel a quien hemos de dar cuenta. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, while the promise of entering his rest remains, let us fear lest any of you be judged to have failed to reach it. For good news came to us just as to them; but the message which they heard did not benefit them, because it did not meet with faith in the hearers. For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall never enter my rest,’” although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” And again in this place he said, “They shall never enter my rest.” Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, again he sets a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted, “Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later of another day. So then, there remains a sabbath rest for the people of God; for whoever enters God’s rest also ceases from his labors as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, that no one fall by the same sort of disobedience. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And before him no creature is hidden, but all are open and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, se acercaron unos fariseos a Jesús y, para ponerle a prueba, le preguntaron: «¿Puede el marido repudiar a la mujer?» Él, a su vez, les preguntó: «¿Qué les prescribió Moisés?» Ellos le respondieron: «Moisés permitió escribir el acta de divorcio y repudiarla.» Jesús les dijo: «Escribió para ustedes este precepto a causa de su cerrazón de mente. Pero desde el comienzo de la creación, Él los hizo varón y hembra. Por eso dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y los dos se harán una sola carne. De manera que ya no son dos, sino una sola carne. Pues bien, lo que Dios unió no lo separe el hombre.» Ya en casa, los discípulos volvieron a preguntarle sobre esto. Él les dijo: «Quien repudie a su mujer y se case con otra comete adulterio contra aquélla; y si ella repudia a su marido y se casa con otro, comete adulterio.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Pharisees came up to Jesus and in order to test him, asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away.” But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.” And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her; and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
