Hermanos, Moisés fue fiel en toda su casa, como servidor, para atestiguar cuanto había de anunciarse; pero Cristo lo fue como hijo, al frente de su propia casa, que somos nosotros, si es que mantenemos la confianza y vivimos orgullosos de nuestra esperanza. Por eso, como dice el Espíritu Santo: Si hoy escuchan su voz, no endurezcan sus corazones como cuando le irritaron el día de la prueba en el desierto, cuando sus padres me pusieron a prueba y me tentaron, después de haber visto mis obras durante cuarenta años. Por eso me irrité contra aquella generación y pensé: Siempre andan extraviados sus corazones; no reconocen mis designios. Por eso juré con ira: ¡No entrarán en mi descanso! ¿Y contra quiénes se indignó durante cuarenta años? ¿No fue acaso contra los que pecaron, cuyos cadáveres cayeron en el desierto? ¿Y a quiénes juró que no entrarían en su descanso, sino a los que no creyeron? Así, vemos que no pudieron entrar a causa de su incredulidad. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ was faithful over God''s house as a son. And we are his house if we hold firm to the end our confidence and pride in our hope. Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, when you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their hearts; they have not known my ways.’ As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’” And with whom was he provoked forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they should never enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. [RSV]
Ἀδελφοί, Μωϋσῆς μὲν πιστὸς ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ ὡς θεράπων, εἰς μαρτύριον τῶν λαληθησομένων, Χριστὸς δὲ ὡς υἱὸς ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον αὐτοῦ, οὗ οἶκός ἐσμεν ἡμεῖς, ἐάνπερ τὴν παρρησίαν καὶ τὸ καύχημα τῆς ἐλπίδος μέχρι τέλους βεβαίαν κατάσχωμεν. Διό, καθὼς λέγει τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον· σήμερον ἐὰν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ ἀκούσητε, μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς ἐν τῷ παραπικρασμῷ, κατὰ τὴν ἡμέραν τοῦ πειρασμοῦ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, οὗ ἐπείρασάν με οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν, ἐδοκίμασάν με, καὶ εἶδον τὰ ἔργα μου τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη· διὸ προσώχθισα τῇ γενεᾷ ἐκείνῃ καὶ εἶπον· ἀεὶ πλανῶνται τῇ καρδίᾳ, αὐτοὶ δὲ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν τὰς ὁδούς μου· ὡς ὤμοσα ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ μου, εἰ εἰσελεύσονται εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν μου· τίσι δὲ προσώχθισε τεσσαράκοντα ἔτη; οὐχὶ τοῖς ἁμαρτήσασιν, ὧν τὰ κῶλα ἔπεσεν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ; τίσι δὲ ὤμοσε μὴ εἰσελεύσεσθαι εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσιν αὐτοῦ εἰ μὴ τοῖς ἀπειθήσασι; καὶ βλέπομεν ὅτι οὐκ ἠδυνήθησαν εἰσελθεῖν δι᾽ ἀπιστίαν.

Dijo el Señor: «Al que escandalice a uno de estos pequeños que creen, le iría mejor si le pusieran al cuello una de esas piedras de molino que mueven los asnos y que le echen al mar. Si tu mano te es ocasión de tropiezo, córtatela; más vale que entres manco en la Vida que ir con las dos manos a la Gehenna, al fuego que no se apaga, donde su gusano no muere. Y si tu pie te es ocasión de tropiezo, córtatelo; más vale que entres cojo en la Vida que ser arrojado con los dos pies a la Gehenna, donde su gusano no muere y el fuego no se apaga. Y si tu ojo te es ocasión de tropiezo, sácatelo; más vale que entres con un solo ojo en el Reino de Dios que ser arrojado con los dos ojos a la Gehenna, donde su gusano no muere y el fuego no se apaga; pues todos han de ser salados con fuego. Buena es la sal; mas, si la sal se vuelve insípida, ¿con qué la sazonarán? Tengan sal en ustedes y tengan paz unos con otros.» Dejó aquel lugar y se dirigió a la región de Judea y al otro lado del Jordán. De nuevo acudió la gente donde él y, como acostumbraba, se puso a enseñarles. [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea. And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell, to the unquenchable fire, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. For every one will be salted with fire and every sacrifice will be salted with salt. Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again; and again, as his custom was, he taught them. Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος· ὃς ἂν σκανδαλίσῃ ἕνα τῶν μικρῶν τούτων τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ, καλόν ἐστιν αὐτῷ μᾶλλον εἰ περίκειται λίθος μυλικὸς περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ βέβληται εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν. καὶ ἐὰν σκανδαλίζῃ σε ἡ χείρ σου, ἀπόκοψον αὐτήν· καλὸν σοί ἐστι κυλλὸν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν εἰσελθεῖν, ἢ τὰς δύο χεῖρας ἔχοντα ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν, εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἄσβεστον, ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυται. καὶ ἐὰν ὁ πούς σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε, ἀπόκοψον αὐτόν· καλὸν σοί ἐστιν εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν ζωὴν χωλόν, ἢ τοὺς δύο πόδας ἔχοντα βληθῆναι εἰς τὴν γέενναν, εἰς τὸ πῦρ τὸ ἄσβεστον, ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυται. καὶ ἐὰν ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου σκανδαλίζῃ σε, ἔκβαλε αὐτόν· καλὸν σοί ἐστι μονόφθαλμον εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἢ τοὺς δύο ὀφθαλμοὺς ἔχοντα ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὴν γέενναν τοῦ πυρός, ὅπου ὁ σκώληξ αὐτῶν οὐ τελευτᾷ καὶ τὸ πῦρ οὐ σβέννυται. πᾶς γὰρ πυρὶ ἁλισθήσεται, καὶ πᾶσα θυσία ἁλὶ ἁλισθήσεται. καλὸν τὸ ἅλας· ἐὰν δὲ τὸ ἅλας ἄναλον γένηται, ἐν τίνι αὐτὸ ἀρτύσετε; ἔχετε ἐν ἑαυτοῖς ἅλας καὶ εἰρηνεύετε ἐν ἀλλήλοις. Καὶ ἐκεῖθεν ἀναστὰς ἔρχεται εἰς τὰ ὅρια τῆς Ἰουδαίας διὰ τοῦ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ συμπορεύονται πάλιν ὄχλοι πρὸς αὐτόν, καὶ ὡς εἰώθει, πάλιν ἐδίδασκεν αὐτούς.
