Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Tito, hijo mío, para los limpios todo es limpio; mas para los contaminados y no creyentes nada hay limpio, pues su mente y conciencia están contaminadas. Profesan conocer a Dios, mas con sus obras lo niegan; son abominables y rebeldes e incapaces de toda obra buena. Mas tú enseña lo que es conforme a la sana doctrina; que los ancianos sean sobrios, dignos, sensatos, sanos en la fe, en la caridad, en la paciencia, en el sufrimiento; que las ancianas asimismo sean en su porte cual conviene a los santos: no calumniadoras ni esclavas de mucho vino, maestras del bien, para que enseñen a las jóvenes a ser amantes de sus maridos y de sus hijos, a ser sensatas, castas, hacendosas, bondadosas, sumisas a sus maridos, para que no sea injuriada la palabra de Dios. Exhorta igualmente a los jóvenes para que sean sensatos en todo. Muéstrate como modelo de bellas obras: pureza de doctrina, dignidad, palabra sana, intachable, para que el adversario se avergüence, no teniendo nada malo que decir de nosotros. Titus, my son, to the pure all things are pure, but to the corrupt and unbelieving nothing is pure; their very minds and consciences are corrupted. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their deeds; they are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good deed. But as for you, teach what befits sound doctrine. Bid the older men be temperate, serious, sensible, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Bid the older women likewise to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderous or slaves to drink; they are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be sensible, chaste, domestic, kind, and submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be discredited. Likewise urge the younger men to control themselves. Show yourself in all respects a model of good deeds, and in your teaching show integrity, gravity, and sound speech that cannot be censured, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say to us. Bid slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to be refractory, nor to pilfer, but to show entire and true fidelity, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior. En aquel tiempo, Jesús y sus discípulos llegaron a Cafarnaún y, una vez en casa, les preguntó: «¿De qué discutían por el camino?» Ellos callaron, pues por el camino habían discutido entre sí quién era el mayor. Entonces se sentó, llamó a los Doce y les dijo: «Si uno quiere ser el primero, que sea el último de todos y el servidor de todos.» Y tomando un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos, lo estrechó entre sus brazos y les dijo: «El que acoja a un niño como éste en mi nombre, a mí me acoge; y el que me acoja a mí, no me acoge a mí, sino a Aquel que me ha enviado.» Juan le dijo: «Maestro, hemos visto a uno que expulsaba demonios en tu nombre, pero, como no viene con nosotros, hemos tratado de impedírselo.» Pero Jesús dijo: «No se lo impidan, pues no hay nadie que obre un milagro invocando mi nombre y que luego sea capaz de hablar mal de mí. Pues el que no está contra nosotros, está por nosotros. Todo aquel que les dé de beber un vaso de agua por el hecho de que son de Cristo, les aseguro que no perderá su recompensa.» [BJ-SAOGM]

At that time, Jesus and his disciples came to Capernaum, and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?” But they were silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest. And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, “If any one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” And he took a child, and put him in the midst of them; and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” John said to him, “Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me. For he that is not against us is for us. For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward.” [RSV]

Ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰωάννης λέγων· διδάσκαλε, εἴδομέν τινα ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἐκβάλλοντα δαιμόνια, ὃς οὐκ ἀκολουθεῖ ἡμῖν, καὶ ἐκωλύσαμεν αὐτόν, ὅτι οὐκ ἀκολουθεῖ ἡμῖν. ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπε· μὴ κωλύετε αὐτόν· οὐδεὶς γάρ ἐστιν ὃς ποιήσει δύναμιν ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί μου καὶ δυνήσεται ταχὺ κακολογῆσαί με. ὃς γὰρ οὐκ ἔστι καθ᾿ ὑμῶν, ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ἐστιν. ὃς γὰρ ἂν ποτίσῃ ὑμᾶς ποτήριον ὕδατος ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου, ὅτι Χριστοῦ ἐστε, ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, οὐ μὴ ἀπολέσῃ τὸν μισθὸν αὐτοῦ.

Ὕμνος εἰς τὴν Θεοτόκον.

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.

It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.

We have seen the true light; we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith, worshiping the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us.
