Hermanos, por lo que respecta a la Venida de nuestro Señor Jesús Cristo y a nuestra reunión con él, les rogamos que no permitan que su ánimo se altere por cualquier cosa, ni se alarmen por ciertas manifestaciones del Espíritu, por algunas palabras o por alguna carta presentada como nuestra, que les haga suponer que el Día del Señor es inminente. Que nadie los engañe de ninguna manera. Primero tiene que venir la apostasía y manifestarse el Hombre impío, el Hijo de perdición, el Adversario que se alza contra todo lo que lleva el nombre de Dios o es objeto de culto, hasta el extremo de sentarse él mismo en el Santuario de Dios y proclamarse a sí mismo Dios. ¿No se acuerdan que ya les dije esto cuando estuve entre ustedes? Ustedes saben qué es lo que ahora le retiene, para que se manifieste en su momento oportuno. Porque el misterio de la impiedad ya está actuando. Tan sólo con que sea quitado de en medio el que ahora le retiene, entonces se manifestará el Impío, a quien el Señor destruirá con el soplo de su boca, y aniquilará con la manifestación de su Venida. La venida del Impío estará señalada por el influjo de Satanás, con toda clase de milagros, signos, prodigios engañosos y todo tipo de maldades, que seducirán a los que se han de condenar por no haber aceptado el amor de la verdad que les hubiera salvado. Por eso Dios les envía un poder seductor que les hace creer en la mentira, para que sean condenados todos cuantos no creyeron en la verdad y prefirieron la iniquidad. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you this? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, and the Lord will slay him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by his appearing and his coming. The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. [RSV]
Ἀδελφοί, ἐρωτῶμεν ὑμᾶς ὑπὲρ τῆς παρουσίας τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ καὶ ἡμῶν ἐπισυναγωγῆς ἐπ᾽ αὐτόν, εἰς τὸ μὴ ταχέως σαλευθῆναι ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ νοὸς μήτε θροεῖσθαι μήτε διὰ πνεύματος μήτε διὰ λόγου μήτε δι᾽ ἐπιστολῆς ὡς δι᾽ ἡμῶν, ὡς ὅτι ἐνέστηκεν ἡ ἡμέρα τοῦ Χριστοῦ. μή τις ὑμᾶς ἐξαπατήσῃ κατὰ μηδένα τρόπον· ὅτι ἐὰν μὴ ἔλθῃ ἡ ἀποστασία πρῶτον καὶ ἀποκαλυφθῇ ὁ ἄνθρωπος τῆς ἁμαρτίας, ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας, ὁ ἀντικείμενος καὶ ὑπεραιρόμενος ἐπὶ πάντα λεγόμενον Θεὸν ἢ σέβασμα, ὥστε αὐτὸν εἰς τὸν ναὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ὡς Θεὸν καθίσαι, ἀποδεικνύντα ἑαυτὸν ὅτι ἐστὶ Θεός. Οὐ μνημονεύετε ὅτι ἔτι ὢν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ταῦτα ἔλεγον ὑμῖν; καὶ νῦν τὸ κατέχον οἴδατε, εἰς τὸ ἀποκαλυφθῆναι αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἑαυτοῦ καιρῷ· τὸ γὰρ μυστήριον ἤδη ἐνεργεῖται τῆς ἀνομίας, μόνον ὁ κατέχων ἄρτι ἕως ἐκ μέσου γένηται· καὶ τότε ἀποκαλυφθήσεται ὁ ἄνομος, ὃν ὁ Κύριος ἀναλώσει τῷ πνεύματι τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ καὶ καταργήσει τῇ ἐπιφανείᾳ τῆς παρουσίας αὐτοῦ· οὗ ἐστιν ἡ παρουσία κατ᾽ ἐνέργειαν τοῦ σατανᾶ ἐν πάσῃ δυνάμει καὶ σημείοις καὶ τέρασι ψεύδους καὶ ἐν πάσῃ ἀπάτῃ τῆς ἀδικίας ἐν τοῖς ἀπολλυμένοις, ἀνθ᾽ ὧν τὴν ἀγάπην τῆς ἀληθείας οὐκ ἐδέξαντο εἰς τὸ σωθῆναι αὐτούς· καὶ διὰ τοῦτο πέμψει αὐτοῖς ὁ Θεὸς ἐνέργειαν πλάνης εἰς τὸ πιστεῦσαι αὐτοὺς τῷ ψεύδει, ἵνα κριθῶσι πάντες οἱ μὴ πιστεύσαντες τῇ ἀληθείᾳ, ἀλλ᾽ εὐδοκήσαντες ἐν τῇ ἀδικίᾳ.

En aquel tiempo, le presentaban también a los niños pequeños, para que los tocara; pero los discípulos, al verlo, les reñían. Mas Jesús llamó a los niños y dijo: «Dejen que los niños vengan a mí y no se lo impidan; porque de los que son como éstos es el Reino de Dios. Les aseguro que el que no acoja el Reino de Dios como un niño no entrará en él.» Los que lo oyeron, dijeron: «¿Quién se podrá salvar entonces?» Respondió: «Lo que es imposible para los hombres es posible para Dios.» Dijo entonces Pedro: «Ya lo ves, nosotros hemos dejado nuestras cosas y te hemos seguido.» Él les respondió: «Les aseguro que nadie que haya dejado casa, mujer, hermanos, padres o hijos por el Reino de Dios, quedará sin recibir mucho más al presente y vida eterna en el mundo venidero.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, they were bringing even infants to Jesus that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” His disciples said to him, “Then who can be saved?” And he said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Then Peter said, “Lo, we have left our homes and followed you.” And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no man who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive manifold more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.” [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, προσέφερον τῷ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τὰ βρέφη ἵνα αὐτῶν ἅπτηται· καὶ ἰδόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐπετίμησαν αὐτοῖς. ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτὰ εἶπεν· ἄφετε τὰ παιδία ἔρχεσθαι πρός με καὶ μὴ κωλύετε αὐτά· τῶν γὰρ τοιούτων ἐστὶν ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ. ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ὃς ἐὰν μὴ δέξηται τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ ὡς παιδίον, οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθῃ εἰς αὐτήν. Λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ· καὶ τίς δύναται σωθῆναι; ὁ δὲ εἶπε· τὰ ἀδύνατα παρὰ ἀνθρώποις δυνατὰ παρὰ τῷ Θεῷ ἐστιν. Εἶπε δὲ ὁ Πέτρος· ἰδοὺ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν πάντα καὶ ἠκολουθήσαμέν σοι. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδείς ἐστιν ὃς ἀφῆκεν οἰκίαν ἢ γονεῖς ἢ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ γυναῖκα ἢ τέκνα ἕνεκεν τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ Θεοῦ, ὃς οὐ μὴ ἀπολάβῃ πολλαπλασίονα ἐν τῷ καιρῷ τούτῳ καὶ ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τῷ ἐρχομένῳ ζωὴν αἰώνιον.
