Hermanos, el mismo Dios que dijo ‘Del seno de las tinieblas brille la luz’ la ha hecho brillar en nuestras mentes, para iluminarnos con el conocimiento de la gloria de Dios, que brilla en el rostro de Cristo. Pero llevamos este tesoro en recipientes de barro, para que se vea claramente que una fuerza tan extraordinaria es de Dios y no de nosotros. Vivimos siempre apretados, pero no aplastados; apurados, pero no desesperados; perseguidos, pero no abandonados; derribados, pero no rematados. Llevamos siempre en nuestros cuerpos, por todas partes, la muerte de Jesús, a fin de que también la vida de Jesús se manifieste en nuestro cuerpo. Pues, aunque vivimos, nos vemos continuamente expuestos a la muerte por causa de Jesús, a fin de que también la vida de Jesús se manifieste en nuestra carne mortal. De modo que la muerte actúa en nosotros, pero en ustedes la vida. Está escrito: Creí, por eso hablé. Pues bien, conforme a ese espíritu de fe, también nosotros creemos, y por eso hablamos, sabiendo que quien resucitó al Señor Jesús también nos resucitará con Jesús y nos presentará ante él junto con ustedes. Y todo esto ha redundado en su provecho, a fin de que cuantos más reciban la gracia, mayor sea el agradecimiento, para gloria de Dios. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, it is the God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we too believed, and so we speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. [RSV]

Ἔχομεν δὲ τὸν θησαυρὸν τοῦτον ἐν ὀστρακίνοις σκεύεσιν, ἵνα ἡ ὑπερβολὴ τῆς δυνάμεως ᾖ τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ μὴ ἐξ ἡμῶν, ἐν παντὶ θλιβόμενοι ἀλλ᾿ οὐ στενοχωρούμενοι, ἀπορούμενοι ἀλλ᾿ οὐκ ἐξαπορούμενοι, διωκόμενοι ἀλλ᾿ οὐκ ἐγκαταλειπόμενοι, καταβαλλόμενοι ἀλλ᾿ οὐκ ἀπολλύμενοι, πάντοτε τὴν νέκρωσιν τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ σώματι περιφέροντες, ἵνα καὶ ἡ ζωὴ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ σώματι ἡμῶν φανερωθῇ. ἀεὶ γὰρ ἡμεῖς οἱ ζῶντες εἰς θάνατον παραδιδόμεθα διὰ Ἰησοῦν, ἵνα καὶ ἡ ζωὴ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ φανερωθῇ ἐν τῇ θνητῇ σαρκὶ ἡμῶν. ὥστε ὁ μὲν θάνατος ἐν ἡμῖν ἐνεργεῖται, ἡ δὲ ζωὴ ἐν ὑμῖν. ἔχοντες δὲ τὸ αὐτὸ πνεῦμα τῆς πίστεως κατὰ τὸ γεγραμμένον, ἐπίστευσα, διὸ ἐλάλησα, καὶ ἡμεῖς πιστεύομεν, διὸ καὶ λαλοῦμεν, εἰδότες ὅτι ὁ ἐγείρας τὸν Κύριον Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἡμᾶς διὰ Ἰησοῦ ἐγερεῖ καὶ παραστήσει σὺν ὑμῖν. τὰ γὰρ πάντα δι᾿ ὑμᾶς, ἵνα ἡ χάρις πλεονάσασα διὰ τῶν πλειόνων τὴν εὐχαριστίαν περισσεύσῃ εἰς τὴν δόξαν τοῦ Θεοῦ.

Dijo el Señor: «¿Quién es, pues, el administrador fiel y prudente a quien el señor pondrá al frente de su servidumbre para darles a su tiempo su ración conveniente? Dichoso aquel siervo a quien su señor, al llegar, encuentre haciéndolo así. Les aseguro que le pondrá al frente de toda su hacienda. Pero si aquel siervo dice para sus adentros: ‘Mi señor tarda en volver’, y se pone a golpear a los criados y a las criadas, a comer y a beber y a emborracharse, volverá el señor de aquel siervo el día menos esperado y en el momento más imprevisto, lo castigará severamente y le señalará su suerte entre los infieles. Aquel siervo que, conociendo la voluntad de su señor, no ha preparado nada ni ha obrado conforme a su voluntad, recibirá muchos azotes; el que no la conoce y hace cosas que merecen azotes, recibirá pocos. A quien se le dio mucho, se le reclamará mucho; y a quien se confió mucho, se le pedirá más.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise steward, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces him, and put him with the unfaithful. And that servant who knew his master’s will, but did not make ready or act according to his will, shall receive a severe beating. But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more.” [RSV]
Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος· τίς ἄρα ἐστὶν ὁ πιστὸς οἰκονόμος καὶ φρόνιμος, ὃν καταστήσει ὁ κύριος ἐπὶ τῆς θεραπείας αὐτοῦ τοῦ διδόναι ἐν καιρῷ τὸ σιτομέτριον; μακάριος ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος, ὃν ἐλθὼν ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ εὑρήσει οὕτω ποιοῦντα. ἀληθῶς λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐπὶ πᾶσι τοῖς ὑπάρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καταστήσει αὐτόν. ἐὰν δὲ εἴπῃ ὁ δοῦλος ἐκεῖνος ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ, χρονίζει ὁ κύριός μου ἔρχεσθαι, καὶ ἄρξηται τύπτειν τοὺς παῖδας καὶ τὰς παιδίσκας, ἐσθίειν τε καὶ πίνειν καὶ μεθύσκεσθαι, ἥξει ὁ κύριος τοῦ δούλου ἐκείνου ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ οὐ προσδοκᾷ καὶ ἐν ὥρᾳ ᾗ οὐ γινώσκει, καὶ διχοτομήσει αὐτόν, καὶ τὸ μέρος αὐτοῦ μετὰ τῶν ἀπίστων θήσει. ἐκεῖνος δὲ ὁ δοῦλος, ὁ γνοὺς τὸ θέλημα τοῦ κυρίου ἑαυτοῦ καὶ μὴ ἑτοιμάσας μηδὲ ποιήσας πρὸς τὸ θέλημα αὐτοῦ, δαρήσεται πολλάς· ὁ δὲ μὴ γνούς, ποιήσας δὲ ἄξια πληγῶν, δαρήσεται ὀλίγας. παντὶ δὲ ᾧ ἐδόθη πολύ, πολὺ ζητηθήσεται παρ᾿ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ᾧ παρέθεντο πολύ, περισσότερον αἰτήσουσιν αὐτόν.

On November 11 we commemorate the holy Great-martyr Menas who witnessed at Cotyaeion.
Τῇ ΙΑʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ ἁγίου Μεγαλομάρτυρος Μηνᾶ τοῦ ἐν τῷ Κοτυαείῳ.
Por sus santas intercesiones, oh Dios, ten piedad de nosotros. Amén.
By their holy intercessions, O God, have mercy on us. Amen.
