Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, tenemos un sumo sacerdote tal, que se sentó a la diestra del trono de la Majestad en los cielos, al servicio del santuario y de la Tienda verdadera, erigida por el Señor, no por un hombre. Y, si todo sumo sacerdote está constituido para ofrecer dones y sacrificios, es necesario que también él tuviera que ofrecer algo. Pero, si estuviera en la tierra, ni siquiera sería sacerdote, pues ya hay quienes ofrezcan dones según la Ley. Éstos dan culto utilizando cosas que sólo son sombra y figura de realidades celestiales, según le fue revelado a Moisés al emprender la construcción de la Tienda: Mira —se le dice—, harás todo conforme al modelo que te ha sido mostrado en el monte. Ahora bien, él ha obtenido un ministerio tanto mejor cuanto que es mediador de una alianza mejor, fundada en promesas mejores. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord. For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer gifts according to the law. They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary; for when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry which is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
