Hermanos, ahora me alegro por los padecimientos que soporto por ustedes, y completo lo que falta a las tribulaciones de Cristo en mi carne, en favor de su cuerpo, que es la Iglesia, de la cual he llegado a ser ministro, conforme a la misión que Dios me concedió en orden a ustedes para dar cumplimiento a la palabra de Dios, al misterio escondido desde siglos y generaciones, y manifestado ahora a sus santos, a quienes Dios quiso dar a conocer cuál es la riqueza de la gloria de este misterio entre los gentiles, que es Cristo en ustedes, la esperanza de la gloria, al cual nosotros anunciamos, amonestando e instruyendo a todos los hombres con toda sabiduría, a fin de presentarlos a todos perfectos en Cristo. Por esto precisamente me afano, luchando con la fuerza de Cristo que actúa poderosamente en mí. Quiero que sepan cuán dura lucha estoy sosteniendo por ustedes. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I complete what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, of which I became a minister according to the divine office which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now made manifest to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ Jesus. For this I toil, striving with all the energy which he mightily inspires within me. For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you. [RSV]
Ἀδελφοί, νῦν χαίρω ἐν τοῖς παθήμασί μου ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν καὶ ἀνταναπληρῶ τὰ ὑστερήματα τῶν θλίψεων τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου ὑπὲρ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ, ὅ ἐστιν ἡ ἐκκλησία, ἧς ἐγενόμην ἐγὼ διάκονος κατὰ τὴν οἰκονομίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι εἰς ὑμᾶς, πληρῶσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ, τὸ μυστήριον τὸ ἀποκεκρυμμένον ἀπὸ τῶν αἰώνων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν γενεῶν, νυνὶ δὲ ἐφανερώθη τοῖς ἁγίοις αὐτοῦ, οἷς ἠθέλησεν ὁ Θεὸς γνωρίσαι τίς ὁ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης τοῦ μυστηρίου τούτου ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, ὅς ἐστι Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν, ἡ ἐλπὶς τῆς δόξης· ὃν ἡμεῖς καταγγέλλομεν νουθετοῦντες πάντα ἄνθρωπον καὶ διδάσκοντες πάντα ἄνθρωπον ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ, ἵνα παραστήσωμεν πάντα ἄνθρωπον τέλειον ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ· εἰς ὃ καὶ κοπιῶ ἀγωνιζόμενος κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν αὐτοῦ τὴν ἐνεργουμένην ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐν δυνάμει. En aquel tiempo, estaba Jesús expulsando un demonio que era mudo, y apenas salió el demonio, rompió a hablar el mudo. La gente quedó admirada, aunque algunos de ellos comentaban: «Éste expulsa los demonios por Beelzebul, Príncipe de los demonios.» Otros, para ponerlo a prueba, le pedían un signo del cielo. Pero él, adivinando sus intenciones, les dijo: «Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo quedará asolado, y una casa se desplomará sobre la otra. Entonces, si también Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo podrá subsistir su reino?... porque dicen que yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul. Si yo expulso los demonios por Beelzebul, ¿por quién los expulsan sus hijos? Por eso, ellos serán sus jueces. Pero si yo expulso los demonios por el dedo de Dios, señal de que ha llegado a ustedes el Reino de Dios. Cuando uno fuerte y bien armado custodia su palacio, sus bienes están en seguro; pero si llega uno más fuerte que él y le vence, le quita las armas en las que estaba confiado y reparte sus despojos. El que no está conmigo, está contra mí; y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus was casting out a demon that was dumb; when the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke, and the people marveled. But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons”; while others, to test him, sought from him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls. And if Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul. And if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace; but when one stronger than he assails him and overcomes him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil. He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.” [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἦν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐκβάλλων δαιμόνιον, καὶ αὐτὸ ἦν κωφόν· ἐγένετο δὲ τοῦ δαιμονίου ἐξελθόντος ἐλάλησεν ὁ κωφός, καὶ ἐθαύμαζον οἱ ὄχλοι· τινὲς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶπον· ἐν Βεελζεβοὺλ τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια. ἕτεροι δὲ πειράζοντες σημεῖον παρ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐζήτουν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ. αὐτὸς δὲ εἰδὼς αὐτῶν τὰ διανοήματα εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· πᾶσα βασιλεία ἐφ᾿ ἑαυτὴν διαμερισθεῖσα, ἐρημοῦται, καὶ οἶκος ἐπὶ οἶκον, πίπτει. εἰ δὲ καὶ ὁ σατανᾶς ἐφ᾿ ἑαυτὸν διεμερίσθη, πῶς σταθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ, ὅτι λέγετε ἐν Βεελζεβούλ με ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια; εἰ δὲ ἐγὼ ἐν Βεελζεβοὺλ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια, οἱ υἱοὶ ὑμῶν ἐν τίνι ἐκβαλοῦσι; διὰ τοῦτο αὐτοὶ κριταὶ ὑμῶν ἔσονται. εἰ δὲ ἐν δακτύλῳ Θεοῦ ἐκβάλλω τὰ δαιμόνια, ἄρα ἔφθασεν ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ. ὅταν ὁ ἰσχυρὸς καθωπλισμένος φυλάσσῃ τὴν ἑαυτοῦ αὐλήν, ἐν εἰρήνῃ ἐστὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ· ἐπὰν δὲ ὁ ἰσχυρότερος αὐτοῦ ἐπελθὼν νικήσῃ αὐτόν, τὴν πανοπλίαν αὐτοῦ αἴρει, ἐφ᾿ ᾗ ἐπεποίθει, καὶ τὰ σκῦλα αὐτοῦ διαδίδωσιν. ὁ μὴ ὢν μετ᾿ ἐμοῦ κατ᾿ ἐμοῦ ἐστι, καὶ ὁ μὴ συνάγων μετ᾿ ἐμοῦ σκορπίζει.
