Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Hermanos, juzgo que todo es pérdida ante la sublimidad del conocimiento de Cristo Jesús, mi Señor. Por él perdí todas las cosas; incluso las tengo por basura para ganar a Cristo y encontrarme arraigado en él, no mediante mi justicia, la que viene de la Ley, sino mediante la que viene por la fe en Cristo, la justicia que viene de Dios, apoyada en la fe. Pretendo así conocerle a él, sentir el poder de su resurrección y participar en sus padecimientos, haciéndome semejante a él en la muerte y tratando de llegar a la resurrección de entre los muertos. No es que lo dé ya por conseguido o que crea que ya soy perfecto; más bien continúo mi carrera por ver si puedo alcanzarlo, como Cristo Jesús me alcanzó a mí. Por mi parte, hermanos, no creo haberlo conseguido todavía. Sin embargo, olvido lo que dejé atrás y me lanzo a lo que está por delante, corriendo hacia la meta, al premio a que Dios me llama desde lo alto en Cristo Jesús. Así pues, todos los perfectos tengamos estos sentimientos; y si en algo piensan de otra manera, también eso se lo hará ver Dios. Por lo demás, desde el punto a donde hayamos llegado, sigamos en la misma dirección. Hermanos, sean imitadores míos, y fíjense en los que viven según el modelo que ven en nosotros. Porque muchos viven, según les dije tantas veces —y ahora se lo repito con lágrimas—, como enemigos de la cruz de Cristo, cuyo final es la perdición. Brethren, I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ, and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, based on law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith; that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that if possible I may attain that resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature be thus minded; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained. Brethren, join in imitating me, and mark those who so live as you have an example in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, designó el Señor a otros setenta y dos y los envió por delante, de dos en dos, a todas las poblaciones y sitios adonde él había de ir. Pero antes les dijo: «La mies es mucha y los obreros pocos. Rueguen, pues, al Dueño de la mies que envíe obreros a su mies. Vayan; miren que les envío como corderos en medio de lobos. No lleven bolsa, ni alforja, ni sandalias. Y no saluden a nadie en el camino. Si entran en una casa, digan primero: ‘Paz a esta casa.’ Y si hubiere allí un hijo de paz, su paz reposará sobre él; si no, se volverá a ustedes. Permanezcan en la misma casa, coman y beban lo que tengan, porque el obrero merece su salario. No vayan de casa en casa. En la ciudad en que entren y los reciban, coman lo que les pongan; curen los enfermos que haya en él, y díganles: ‘El Reino de Dios está cerca de ustedes.’ En la ciudad en que entren y no los reciban, salgan a sus plazas y digan: ‘Sacudimos sobre ustedes hasta el polvo de su pueblo que se nos ha pegado a los pies. Sepan, de todas formas, que el Reino de Dios está cerca.’ Les digo que aquel Día habrá menos rigor para Sodoma que para aquel pueblo. ¡Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si en Tiro y en Sidón se hubieran hecho los milagros que se han hecho en ustedes, hace tiempo que se habrían convertido, cubiertos de sayal y sentados sobre ceniza. Por eso, en el Juicio habrá menos rigor para Tiro y Sidón que para ustedes. Y tú, Cafarnaún, ¿pretendes encumbrarte hasta el cielo? ¡Pues hasta el Hades te hundirás!» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the laborer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you; heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off against you; nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.’ I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on that day for Sodom than for that town. Woe to you, Chorazin! woe to you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable in the judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades.” [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἀνέδειξεν ὁ Κύριος καὶ ἑτέρους ἑβδομήκοντα, καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς ἀνὰ δύο πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ εἰς πᾶσαν πόλιν καὶ τόπον οὗ ἤμελλεν αὐτὸς ἔρχεσθαι. ἔλεγεν οὖν πρὸς αὐτούς· ὁ μὲν θερισμὸς πολύς, οἱ δὲ ἐργάται ὀλίγοι· δεήθητε οὖν τοῦ κυρίου τοῦ θερισμοῦ ὅπως ἐκβάλῃ ἐργάτας εἰς τὸν θερισμὸν αὐτοῦ. ὑπάγετε· ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποστέλλω ὑμᾶς ὡς ἄρνας ἐν μέσῳ λύκων. μὴ βαστάζετε βαλλάντιον, μὴ πήραν, μηδὲ ὑποδήματα, καὶ μηδένα κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν ἀσπάσησθε. εἰς ἣν δ᾿ ἂν οἰκίαν εἰσέρχησθε, πρῶτον λέγετε· εἰρήνη τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ. καὶ ἐὰν ᾖ ἐκεῖ υἱὸς εἰρήνης, ἐπαναπαύσεται ἐπ᾿ αὐτὸν ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν· εἰ δὲ μήγε, ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς ἐπανακάμψει. ἐν αὐτῇ δὲ τῇ οἰκίᾳ μένετε ἐσθίοντες καὶ πίνοντες τὰ παρ᾿ αὐτῶν· ἄξιος γὰρ ὁ ἐργάτης τοῦ μισθοῦ αὐτοῦ ἐστι· μὴ μεταβαίνετε ἐξ οἰκίας εἰς οἰκίαν. καὶ εἰς ἣν ἂν πόλιν εἰσέρχησθε καὶ δέχωνται ὑμᾶς, ἐσθίετε τὰ παρατιθέμενα ὑμῖν, καὶ θεραπεύετε τοὺς ἐν αὐτῇ ἀσθενεῖς, καὶ λέγετε αὐτοῖς· ἤγγικεν ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ. εἰς ἣν δ᾿ ἂν πόλιν εἰσέρχησθε καὶ μὴ δέχωνται ὑμᾶς, ἐξελθόντες εἰς τὰς πλατείας αὐτῆς εἴπατε· καὶ τὸν κονιορτὸν τὸν κολληθέντα ἡμῖν ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως ὑμῶν εἰς τοὺς πόδας ἡμῶν ἀπομασσόμεθα ὑμῖν· πλὴν τοῦτο γινώσκετε, ὅτι ἤγγικεν ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ. λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι Σοδόμοις ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται ἢ τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
