Hermanos, confío en el Señor que yo mismo podré ir pronto. Entretanto, he juzgado necesario devolverles a Epafrodito, mi hermano, colaborador y compañero de armas, enviado suyo y encargado para atenderme en mis necesidades, pues estaba añorándolos a todos ustedes y angustiado porque se han enterado de que estaba enfermo. Es cierto que estuvo enfermo y a la muerte. Pero Dios se compadeció de él; y no sólo de él, sino también de mí, para que no tuviera yo tristeza sobre tristeza. Así pues, lo envío inmediatamente para que viéndolo de nuevo se llenen de alegría y yo quede aliviado en mi tristeza. Recíbanlo, pues, en el Señor con toda alegría, y tengan en estima a hombres como él, porque, por la obra de Cristo, ha estado a la muerte, arriesgando su vida para compensar la ausencia de ustedes en servicio mío. Brethren, I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself shall come also. I have thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, and your messenger and minister to my need, for he has been longing for you all, and has been distressed because you heard that he was ill. Indeed he was ill, near to death. But God had mercy on him, and not only on him but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. I am the more eager to send him, therefore, that you may rejoice at seeing him again, and that I may be less anxious. So receive him in the Lord with all joy; and honor such men, for he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete your service to me. [RSV]

Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Pongan en sus oídos estas palabras: el Hijo del hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres.» Pero ellos no entendían lo que les decía; les estaba velado su sentido de modo que no lo comprendían y temían preguntarle acerca de este asunto. Se suscitó una discusión entre ellos sobre quién de ellos sería el mayor. Conociendo Jesús lo que pensaban en su corazón, tomó a un niño, le puso a su lado, y les dijo: «El que reciba a este niño en mi nombre, a mí me recibe; y el que me reciba a mí, recibe a Aquel que me ha enviado; pues el más pequeño de entre ustedes, ése es mayor.» Tomando Juan la palabra, dijo: «Maestro, hemos visto a uno que expulsaba demonios en tu nombre y tratamos de impedírselo, porque no viene con nosotros.» Pero Jesús le dijo: «No se lo impidan, pues el que no está contra ustedes está por ustedes.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears; for the Son of man is to be delivered in to the hands of men.” But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it; and they were afraid to ask him about this saying. And an argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. But when Jesus perceived the thought of their hearts, he took a child and put him by his side, and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me; for he who is least among you all is the one who is great.” John answered, “Master, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us.” But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him; for he that is not against you is for you.” [RSV]
