Hermanos, entre los perfectos hablamos de sabiduría, pero no de la sabiduría de este mundo ni de los jefes de este mundo, abocados a la ruina, sino de una sabiduría de Dios, misteriosa, escondida, destinada por Dios desde antes de los siglos para gloria nuestra, desconocida de todos los jefes de este mundo —pues, de haberla conocido, no habrían crucificado al Señor de la Gloria—. Más bien, como dice la Escritura: ‘lo que ni el ojo vio, ni el oído oyó, ni al corazón del hombre llegó; lo que Dios preparó para los que lo aman’. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, among the mature we impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glorification. None of the rulers of this age understood this; for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him.” [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, tras llegar Jesús a la región de Cesarea de Filipo, hizo esta pregunta a sus discípulos: «¿Quién dicen los hombres que es el Hijo del hombre?» Ellos respondieron: «Unos, que Juan el Bautista; otros, que Elías; otros, que Jeremías o uno de los profetas.» Él les preguntó: «Pero ustedes ¿quién dicen que soy yo?» Simón Pedro contestó: «Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios vivo.» A esto replicó Jesús: «Bienaventurado eres Simón, hijo de Jonás, porque no te ha revelado esto la carne ni la sangre, sino mi Padre que está en los cielos. Y yo a mi vez te digo que tú eres Pedro y que sobre esta piedra edificaré mi Iglesia, y las puertas del Hades no prevalecerán contra ella. A ti te daré las llaves del Reino de los Cielos: lo que ates en la tierra quedará atado en los cielos, y lo que desates en la tierra quedará desatado en los cielos.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that the Son of man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” [RSV]
