Hermanos, los que eran tenidos por notables —¡No importa lo que fuesen, pues Dios no mira la condición de los hombres! Bien, en todo caso los notables— nada nuevo me impusieron. Antes bien, al comprobar que me había sido confiada la evangelización de los incircuncisos, al igual que a Pedro la de los circuncisos —pues el que actuó en Pedro para hacer de él un apóstol de los circuncisos, actuó también en mí para hacerme apóstol de los gentiles—, y reconociendo la gracia que me había sido concedida, Santiago, Cefas y Juan, que eran considerados como columnas, nos tendieron la mano en señal de comunión a mí y a Bernabé, para que nosotros fuéramos a los gentiles y ellos a los circuncisos. Sólo nos pidieron que nos acordáramos de los pobres, cosa que he procurado cumplir. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, from those who were reputed to be something (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality) — those, I say, who were of repute added nothing to me; but on the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised (for he who worked through Peter for the mission to the circumcised worked through me also for the Gentiles), and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised; only they would have us remember the poor, which very thing I was eager to do. En aquel tiempo, los sumos sacerdotes y los fariseos convocaron consejo y se preguntaban: «¿Qué hacemos? Es cierto que este hombre realiza muchos signos. Si le dejamos que siga así, todos creerán en él, y vendrán los romanos y destruirán nuestro Lugar Santo y nuestra nación.» Pero uno de ellos, Caifás, que era el Sumo Sacerdote aquel año, les dijo: «Ustedes no saben nada, ni caen en la cuenta de que conviene que muera uno solo por el pueblo, y así no perezca toda la nación.» Esto no lo dijo por su propia cuenta, sino que, como era Sumo Sacerdote aquel año, profetizó que Jesús iba a morir por la nación — y no sólo por la nación, sino también para reunir en uno a los hijos de Dios que estaban dispersos—. Desde ese día, se pusieron de acuerdo para matarlo. Por eso, Jesús no andaba ya en público entre los judíos, sino que se retiró a la región cercana a la estepa, a un pueblo llamado Efraín, donde se estableció con sus discípulos. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council, and said, “What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. If we let him go on thus, every one will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our place and our nation.” But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all; you do not understand that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation should not perish.” He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. So from that day on they took counsel how to put him to death. Jesus therefore no longer went about openly among the Jews, but went from there to the country near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim; and there he stayed with the disciples. [RSV]

Τῇ ΙΒʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός ἡ προσκύνησις τῶν τιμίων ξύλων, καὶ ἄθλησις τοῦ ἁγίου Ἱερομάρτυρος Αὐτονόμου.
Por las intercesiones de tus santos, oh Dios, ten misericordia de nosotros. Amén.
