In you, O Mother, is preserved undistorted what was made in the image of God; for taking up the cross, you followed Christ and by example taught, that we should overlook the flesh, since it passes away, and instead look after the soul, since it is immortal. Pablo, apóstol, no de parte de los hombres ni por mediación de hombre alguno, sino por Jesús Cristo y Dios Padre, que lo resucitó de entre los muertos, y todos los hermanos que conmigo están, a las Iglesias de Galacia. Gracia a ustedes y paz de parte de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesús Cristo. En lo que les escribo, Dios me es testigo de que no miento. Más tarde me fui a las regiones de Siria y Cilicia. Personalmente no me conocían las Iglesias de Cristo en Judea. Solamente habían oído decir: «El que antes nos perseguía ahora anuncia la buena nueva de la fe que entonces quería destruir». Y glorificaban a Dios por mi causa. Luego, al cabo de catorce años, subí nuevamente a Jerusalén con Bernabé, llevando conmigo también a Tito. En aquel tiempo, los fariseos se confabularon contra Jesús y se dijeron entre sí: «¿Ven cómo no adelantan nada?; todo el mundo se ha ido tras él.» Entre los que subían a adorar en la fiesta había algunos griegos. Éstos se dirigieron a Felipe, el de Betsaida de Galilea, y le rogaron: «Señor, queremos ver a Jesús.» Felipe fue a decírselo a Andrés; Andrés y Felipe fueron a comunicárselo a Jesús. Jesús les respondió: «Ha llegado la hora de que el Hijo de hombre sea glorificado. En verdad, en verdad les digo que si el grano de trigo no cae en tierra y muere, allí queda, él solo; pero si muere, da mucho fruto. El que ama su vida, la perderá; pero el que odia su vida en este mundo la guardará para una vida eterna. Si alguno me sirve, que me siga, y donde yo esté, allí estará también mi servidor. Si alguno me sirve, el Padre le honrará. Ahora mi alma está turbada. Y ¿que voy a decir? ¡Padre, líbrame de esta hora! Pero ¡si he llegado a esta hora precisamente para esto! Padre, glorifica tu Nombre». Vino entonces una voz del cielo: «Lo he glorificado y de nuevo lo glorificaré». La gente que estaba allí y lo oyó decía que había sido un trueno. Otros decían: «Le ha hablado un ángel.» Jesús respondió: «No ha venido esta voz por mí, sino por ustedes. Ahora es el juicio de este mundo; ahora el Príncipe de este mundo será derribado. Y cuando yo sea elevado de la tierra, atraeré a todos hacia mí.» Decía esto para dar a entender qué tipo de muerte le iban a aplicar. La gente le respondió: «Nosotros sabemos por la Ley que el Cristo permanecerá para siempre. ¿Cómo dices tú que es preciso que el Hijo del hombre sea elevado? ¿Quién es ese Hijo del hombre?» Jesús les dijo: «Todavía, por un poco de tiempo, estará la luz entre ustedes. Caminen mientras tienen la luz, para que no le sorprendan las tinieblas; el que camina en tinieblas no sabe a dónde va. Mientras tienen la luz, crean en la luz, para que sean hijos de luz.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, the Pharisees took counsel against Jesus and said to one another, “You see that you can do nothing; look, the world has gone after him.” Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks. So these came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus. And Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If any one serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; if any one serves me, the Father will honor him. Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour?’ No, for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.” The crowd standing by heard it and said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.” Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine. Now is the judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast out; and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” He said this to show by what death he was to die. The crowd answered him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains for ever. How can you say that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?” Jesus said to them, “The light is with you for a little longer. Walk while you have the light, lest the darkness overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
