Hermanos, ya que quieren una prueba de que Cristo habla en mí, piensen que él no es débil con ustedes, sino que pone de manifiesto su poder. Ciertamente, fue crucificado en razón de su debilidad, pero está vivo por la fuerza de Dios. Así también nosotros: somos débiles en él, pero viviremos con él por la fuerza de Dios. Examínense para comprobar si se mantienen firmes en la fe. Pónganse a prueba a ustedes mismos. ¿No reconocen que Jesús Cristo está en ustedes? ¡A no ser que se encuentren ya reprobados! Espero que reconozcan que nosotros no estamos reprobados. Rogamos a Dios que no hagan mal alguno; no para que nosotros aparezcamos aprobados, sino sencillamente para que obren el bien, aun cuando quedáramos nosotros reprobados. Pues nada podemos hacer contra la verdad, sino sólo a favor de la verdad. Ciertamente, nos alegramos cuando somos débiles, y ustedes, en cambio, fuertes; pues lo que pedimos en la oración es precisamente su perfeccionamiento. Por eso les escribo esto estando ausente, para que, una vez presente, no tenga que obrar con severidad conforme al poder que me otorgó el Señor para edificar, no para destruir. Por lo demás, hermanos, vivan con alegría. Busquen la perfección y anímense. Tengan un mismo sentir y vivan en paz, y el Dios del amor y de la paz estará con ustedes. Brethren, you desire proof that Christ is speaking in me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful in you. For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we are weak in him, but in dealing with you we shall live with him by the power of God. Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you? — unless indeed you fail to meet the test! I hope you will find out that we have not failed. But we pray God that you may not do wrong — not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. What we pray for is your improvement. I write this while I am away from you, in order that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority which the Lord has given me for building up and not for tearing down. Finally, brethren, rejoice, be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. Porque Dios no ha enviado a su Hijo al mundo para juzgar al mundo, sino para que el mundo se salve por él. El que cree en él no es juzgado; pero el que no cree ya está juzgado, porque no ha creído en el nombre del Hijo unigénito de Dios. Y el juicio consiste en que la luz vino al mundo, pero los hombres amaron más las tinieblas que la luz, porque sus obras eran malas. Pues todo el que obra el mal odia la luz y no se acerca a ella, para que nadie censure sus obras. Pero el que obra la verdad, se acerca a la luz, para que quede de manifiesto que actúa como Dios quiere.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
