Hermanos, teniendo aquel espíritu de fe conforme a lo que está escrito: Creí, por eso hablé, también nosotros creemos, y por eso hablamos, sabiendo que quien resucitó al Señor Jesús, también nos resucitará con Jesús y nos presentará ante él juntamente con ustedes. Y todo esto, para su bien a fin de que cuantos más reciban la gracia, mayor sea el agradecimiento, para gloria de Dios. Por eso no desfallecemos. Aun cuando nuestro hombre exterior se va desmoronando, el hombre interior se va renovando de día en día. En efecto, la leve tribulación de un momento nos procura, sobre toda medida, un pesado caudal de gloria eterna, a cuantos no ponemos nuestros ojos en las cosas visibles, sino en las invisibles; pues las cosas visibles son pasajeras, mas las invisibles son eternas. Brethren, having the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we too believe, and so we speak, knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. So we do not lose heart. Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Como el relámpago sale por oriente y brilla hasta occidente, así será la venida del Hijo del hombre. Donde esté el cadáver, allí se juntarán los buitres. Inmediatamente después de la tribulación de aquellos días, el sol se oscurecerá, la luna no dará su resplandor, las estrellas caerán del cielo, y las fuerzas de los cielos serán sacudidas. Entonces aparecerá en el cielo la señal del Hijo del hombre; y entonces se golpearán el pecho todas las razas de la tierra y verán al Hijo del hombre venir sobre las nubes del cielo con gran poder y gloria. Él enviará a sus ángeles con sonora trompeta, y reunirán de los cuatro vientos a sus elegidos, desde un extremo de los cielos hasta el otro. De la higuera aprendan esta parábola: cuando ya sus ramas están tiernas y brotan las hojas, saben que el verano está cerca. Dichoso aquel siervo a quien su señor, al llegar, encuentre haciéndolo así. Yo les aseguro que le pondrá al frente de todos sus bienes. Pero si el mal siervo aquel se dice en su corazón: ‘Mi señor tarda’, y se pone a golpear a sus compañeros y come y bebe con los borrachos, vendrá el señor de aquel siervo el día que no espera y en el momento que no sabe, le separará y le señalará su suerte entre los hipócritas; allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “As the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken; then will appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; and he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near. But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with the drunken, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know, and will cut him in pieces, and put him with the hypocrites; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
