Verso 1: Confiesen al Señor porque es bueno, pues eterna es su misericordia.

Verso 2: Todas las gentes me cercaron y con el nombre de Dios me he defendido de ellos.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Verso 3: Por el Señor ha sido hecho esto y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos.

En tu alumbramiento conservaste tu virginidad y en tu Dormición no olvidaste al mundo, oh Theotokos; puesto que te has trasladado a la vida oh Madre de la Vida, por tu intercesión, libra de la muerte a nuestras almas. [SAOGM] (3 veces)

You gave birth yet preserved your virginity. You fell asleep in death yet did not desert the world, O Theotokos. You were transported to life, as you are Mother of Life and, by virtue of your intercessions, deliver our souls from death. [SD] (3)

Conmemorando a la Santísima, pura, benditísima, y gloriosa doncella nuestra, la Theotokos y siempre Virgen María; con todos los santos, encomendémonos cada uno a sí mismo y unos a otros y nuestra vida entera a Cristo nuestro Dios.

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.

Prophet David, tell us please, what do we celebrate today? * “The Assumption of the one, whom in the Psalms I extolled * as daughter and Virgin and the Mother of God, * when Christ, who without seed was born of her, himself * transported her to heaven, to the mansions there. * And on this day especially mothers, * daughters, and brides of Christ salute her with joy, * ‘Rejoice, O Lady! You were transported * to the royal courts on high!’” [SD]

The honorable choir of the all-wise Apostles * miraculously came, O august Theotokos, * to bury your immaculate holy body with dignity. * Joining them, the hosts of holy Angels extolled you. * With solemnity they sang and praised your Assumption, * which we faithfully celebrate. [SD]

Seedless conception once preceded childbirth, * and in dormition now is death without decay. * This twofold miracle is seen in you only, Theotokos. * Virgin Mary, how did you * nurse a babe while remaining chaste? * Being buried, now are you * emitting fragrance, O Mother of God! * And therefore with the Angel we sing to you: * Rejoice, O Maiden full of grace. En aquellos días, se puso en camino María y se dirigió con prontitud a la región montañosa, a una población de Judá. Entró en casa de Zacarías y saludó a Isabel. En cuanto oyó Isabel el saludo de María, saltó de gozo el niño en su seno; Isabel quedó llena de Espíritu Santo y exclamó a gritos: «Bendita tú entre las mujeres y bendito el fruto de tu seno; ¿cómo así viene a visitarme la madre de mi Señor? Porque apenas llegó a mis oídos la voz de tu saludo, saltó de gozo el niño en mi seno. ¡Feliz la que ha creído que se cumplirían las cosas que le fueron dichas de parte del Señor!» Dijo María: «Alaba mi alma la grandeza del Señor y mi espíritu se alegra en Dios mi salvador, porque ha puesto los ojos en la pequeñez de su esclava. In those days, Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the babe in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden. Ten piedad de mí, oh Dios, por tu bondad, por tu inmensa ternura borra mi delito, lávame a fondo de mi culpa, purifícame de mi pecado. Pues yo reconozco mi delito, mi pecado está siempre ante mí; contra ti, contra ti solo pequé, lo malo a tus ojos cometí. Por que seas justo cuando hablas e irreprochable cuando juzgas. Mira que nací culpable, pecador me concibió mi madre. Y tú amas la verdad en lo íntimo del ser, en mi interior me inculcas sabiduría. Rocíame con hisopo hasta quedar limpio, lávame hasta blanquear más que la nieve. Devuélveme el son del gozo y la alegría, se alegren los huesos que tú machacaste. Aparta tu vista de mis yerros y borra todas mis culpas. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Conmemorando a la Santísima, pura, benditísima, y gloriosa doncella nuestra, la Theotokos y siempre Virgen María; con todos los santos, encomendémonos cada uno a sí mismo y unos a otros y nuestra vida entera a Cristo nuestro Dios.

Remembering our all-holy, immaculate, most blessed, and glorious Lady, the Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary, with all the saints, let us commend ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God.
