Hermanos, nosotros somos colaboradores de Dios, y ustedes, el campo que Dios cultiva, el edificio que Dios construye. Conforme a la tarea que Dios me confió, yo, como buen arquitecto, puse los cimientos, y otro construye sobre ellos. ¡Pero que cada cual mire cómo construye! Pues nadie puede poner otros cimientos que los ya puestos: Jesús Cristo. Sobre estos cimientos se puede construir con oro, plata, piedras preciosas, madera, heno o paja, pero la obra de cada cual quedará patente; la pondrá al descubierto el Día, que vendrá acompañado de fuego. Y el fuego probará la calidad de la obra de cada cual. Aquél cuya obra, construida sobre los cimientos, resista, recibirá la recompensa. Mas aquél cuya obra quede abrasada, sufrirá el castigo. Él, no obstante, quedará a salvo, pero como quien escapa del fuego. ¿No saben que son templo de Dios y que el Espíritu de Dios habita en ustedes? Brethren, we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building. According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder, I laid a foundation, and another man is building upon it. Let each man take care how he builds upon it. For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw — each man’s work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If any one destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and that temple you are. [RSV]

En aquel tiempo, Jesús obligó a los discípulos a subir a la barca y a ir por delante de él a la otra orilla, mientras él despedía a la gente. Después de despedir a la gente, subió al monte a solas para orar. Al atardecer estaba solo allí. La barca, que se hallaba ya muchos estadios distante de tierra, era zarandeada por las olas, pues el viento soplaba en contra. A la cuarta vigilia de la noche vino hacia ellos, caminando sobre el mar. Los discípulos, viéndolo caminar sobre el mar, se turbaron y decían: «Es un fantasma», y se pusieron a gritar de miedo. Pero al instante les habló así Jesús: «¡Tranquilos!, soy yo. No teman.» Pedro le respondió: «Señor, si eres tú, mándame ir hacia ti sobre las aguas.» «¡Ven!», le dijo. Bajó Pedro de la barca y se puso a caminar sobre las aguas, en dirección a Jesús. Pero, al sentir la violencia del viento, le entró miedo y, como comenzara a hundirse, gritó: «¡Señor, sálvame!» Jesús tendió al punto la mano, lo agarró y le dijo: «Hombre de poca fe, ¿por qué dudaste?» Cuando subieron a la barca, amainó el viento. Entonces los que estaban en la barca se postraron ante él diciendo: «Verdaderamente eres Hijo de Dios.» Terminada la travesía, tocaron tierra en Genesaret. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was out on the sea, beaten by the waves; for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus; but when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and caught him, saying to him, “O man of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they entered the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
