Hermanos, si nos juzgásemos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos castigados. Sin embargo, el Señor nos castiga para corregirnos, para que no seamos condenados con el mundo. Así pues, hermanos míos, cuando se reúnan para la cena, espérense unos a otros. Si alguno tiene hambre, que coma en su casa; así no se reunirán para castigo suyo. Lo demás lo dispondré cuando vaya. En cuanto a los dones espirituales, no quiero, hermanos, que vivan en la ignorancia. Saben que, cuando eran gentiles, se dejaban arrastrar ciegamente hacia los ídolos mudos. Por eso les hago saber que nadie, movido por el Espíritu de Dios, puede decir: «¡Maldito sea Jesús!»; y nadie puede decir: «¡Jesús es Señor!», si no lo hace movido por el Espíritu Santo. Hay diversidad de carismas, pero un mismo Espíritu; diversidad de ministerios, pero un mismo Señor; diversidad de actuaciones, pero un mismo Dios que obra todo en todos. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, if we judged ourselves truly, we should not be judged. But when we are judged we are being disciplined by the Lord so that we may not be condemned along with the world. So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for another — if any one is hungry, let him eat at home — lest you come together to be condemned. About the other things I will give directions when I come. Now concerning the spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be uninformed. You know that when you were heathen, you were led astray to dumb idols, however you may have been moved. Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus be cursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except by the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. En aquel tiempo, se acercaron a Jesús los discípulos y le preguntaron: «¿Quién es el mayor en el Reino de los Cielos?» Él llamó a un niño, lo puso en medio de ellos y dijo: «Les aseguro que si no cambian y se hacen como los niños, no entrarán en el Reino de los Cielos. Así pues, el mayor en el Reino de los Cielos será el que se humille como este niño. Y el que acoja a un niño como éste en mi nombre, a mí me acoge. Pero al que escandalice a uno de estos pequeños que creen en mí, más le valdría que le colgasen al cuello una de esas piedras de molino que mueven los asnos y lo hundiesen en lo profundo del mar. ¡Ay del mundo por los escándalos! Es forzoso, ciertamente, que haya escándalos, pero ¡ay de aquel hombre por quien viniere el escándalo! Por eso, si tu mano o tu pie te es ocasión de tropiezo, córtatelo y arrójalo de ti; más te vale entrar en la Vida manco o cojo que ser arrojado en el fuego eterno con las dos manos o los dos pies. Y si tu ojo te es ocasión de tropiezo, sácatelo y arrójalo de ti; más te vale entrar en la Vida con un solo ojo que ser arrojado a la Gehenna del fuego con los dos ojos. Guárdense de menospreciar a uno de estos pequeños, porque yo les digo que sus ángeles, en los cielos, ven continuamente el rostro de mi Padre que está en los cielos.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes! And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell fire. See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven. For the Son of man came to save the lost.” [RSV]

A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
