Hermanos, al escribirles en mi carta que no se relacionaran con los impuros, no me refería a los impuros de este mundo en general o a los avaros, a ladrones o idólatras. De ser así, tendrían que salir del mundo. ¡No!, les escribí que no se relacionaran con quien, llamándose hermano, es impuro, avaro, idólatra, difamador, borracho o ladrón. Con ésos ¡ni comer! Pues ¿me toca a mí juzgar a los de fuera? ¿No es a los de dentro a quienes ustedes juzgan? A los de fuera Dios los juzgará. ¡Arrojen de entre ustedes al malvado! Cuando alguno de ustedes tiene un pleito con otro, ¿se atreve a llevar la causa ante los injustos, y no ante los santos? ¿No saben que los santos han de juzgar al mundo? Y si ustedes van a juzgar al mundo, ¿no son acaso dignos de juzgar esas naderías? ¿No saben que hemos de juzgar a los ángeles? Y ¡cómo no las cosas de esta vida! Y cuando tienen pleitos de este género ¡toman como jueces a los que la Iglesia tiene en nada! Para su vergüenza lo digo. ¿No hay entre ustedes algún experto que pueda juzgar entre hermanos? Sino que van a pleitear hermano contra hermano, ¡y eso, ante infieles! De todos modos, ya es un fallo suyo que haya pleitos entre ustedes. ¿Por qué no prefieren soportar la injusticia? ¿Por qué no se dejan más bien despojar? ¡Al contrario! ¡Son ustedes los que obran la injusticia y despojan a los demás! ¡Y esto, a hermanos! ¿No saben acaso que los injustos no heredarán el Reino de Dios? ¡No se engañen! Ni impuros, ni idólatras, ni adúlteros, ni afeminados, ni homosexuales, ni ladrones, ni avaros, ni borrachos, ni ultrajadores, ni explotadores heredarán el Reino de Dios. Y tales fueron algunos de ustedes. Pero han sido lavados, han sido santificados, han sido justificados en el nombre del Señor Jesucristo y en el Espíritu de nuestro Dios. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with immoral men; not at all meaning the immoral of this world, or the greedy and robbers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But rather I wrote to you not to associate with any one who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or robber - not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.” When one of you has a grievance against a brother, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, matters pertaining to this life! If then you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who are least esteemed by the church? I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no man among you wise enough to decide between members of the brotherhood, but brother goes to law against brother and that before unbelievers? To have lawsuits at all with one another is defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? But you yourselves wrong and defraud, and that even your own brethren. Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God. [RSV]
Ἀδελφοί, ἔγραψα ὑμῖν ἐν τῇ ἐπιστολῇ μὴ συναναμίγνυσθαι πόρνοις, καὶ οὐ πάντως τοῖς πόρνοις τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἢ τοῖς πλεονέκταις ἢ ἅρπαξιν ἢ εἰδωλολάτραις· ἐπεὶ ὀφείλετε ἄρα ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου ἐξελθεῖν· νῦν δὲ ἔγραψα ὑμῖν μὴ συναναμίγνυσθαι ἐάν τις ἀδελφὸς ὀνομαζόμενος ᾖ πόρνος ἢ πλεονέκτης ἢ εἰδωλολάτρης ἢ λοίδορος ἢ μέθυσος ἢ ἅρπαξ, τῷ τοιούτῳ μηδὲ συνεσθίειν. τί γάρ μοι καὶ τοὺς ἔξω κρίνειν; οὐχὶ τοὺς ἔσω ὑμεῖς κρίνετε; τοὺς δὲ ἔξω ὁ Θεὸς κρίνει. καὶ ἐξαρεῖτε τὸν πονηρὸν ἐξ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν. Τολμᾷ τις ὑμῶν, πρᾶγμα ἔχων πρὸς τὸν ἕτερον, κρίνεσθαι ἐπὶ τῶν ἀδίκων καὶ οὐχὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ἁγίων; οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι οἱ ἅγιοι τὸν κόσμον κρινοῦσι; καὶ εἰ ἐν ὑμῖν κρίνεται ὁ κόσμος, ἀνάξιοί ἐστε κριτηρίων ἐλαχίστων; οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ἀγγέλους κρινοῦμεν; μήτι γε βιωτικά; βιωτικὰ μὲν οὖν κριτήρια ἐὰν ἔχητε, τοὺς ἐξουθενημένους ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ τούτους καθίζετε. πρὸς ἐντροπὴν ὑμῖν λέγω. οὕτως οὐκ ἔνι ἐν ὑμῖν σοφὸς οὐδὲ εἷς ὃς δυνήσεται διακρῖναι ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ, ἀλλὰ ἀδελφὸς μετὰ ἀδελφοῦ κρίνεται, καὶ τοῦτο ἐπὶ ἀπίστων; ἤδη μὲν οὖν ὅλως ἥττημα ὑμῖν ἐστιν ὅτι κρίματα ἔχετε μεθ᾿ ἑαυτῶν. διατί οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἀδικεῖσθε; διατί οὐχὶ μᾶλλον ἀποστερεῖσθε; ἀλλὰ ὑμεῖς ἀδικεῖτε καὶ ἀποστερεῖτε, καὶ ταῦτα ἀδελφούς; ἢ οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ἄδικοι βασιλείαν Θεοῦ οὐ κληρονομήσουσι; μὴ πλανᾶσθε· οὔτε πόρνοι οὔτε εἰδωλολάτραι οὔτε μοιχοὶ οὔτε μαλακοὶ οὔτε ἀρσενοκοῖται οὔτε πλεονέκται οὔτε κλέπται οὔτε μέθυσοι, οὐ λοίδοροι, οὐχ ἅρπαγες βασιλείαν Θεοῦ οὐ κληρονομήσουσι. καὶ ταῦτά τινες ἦτε· ἀλλὰ ἀπελούσασθε, ἀλλὰ ἡγιάσθητε, ἀλλὰ ἐδικαιώθητε ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ καὶ ἐν τῷ Πνεύματι τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús había venido a su patria y les enseñaba en su sinagoga, de tal manera que se preguntaban maravillados: «¿De dónde le viene a éste esa sabiduría y esos milagros? ¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos Santiago, José, Simón y Judas? ¿Y no están todas sus hermanas entre nosotros? Entonces, ¿de dónde le viene todo esto?» Y se escandalizaban a causa de él. Mas Jesús les dijo: «Un profeta sólo carece de prestigio en su patria y entre los suyos.» Y no hizo allí muchos milagros, a causa de su falta de fe. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus came to his own country, and taught the crowds in their synagogue so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joses and Simon and Jude? And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all this?” And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief. [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἦλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἰς τὴν πατρίδα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐδίδασκεν τοὺς ὄχλους ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ αὐτῶν, ὥστε ἐκπλήττεσθαι αὐτοὺς καὶ λέγειν· πόθεν τούτῳ ἡ σοφία αὕτη καὶ αἱ δυνάμεις; οὐχ οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ τοῦ τέκτονος υἱός; οὐχὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ λέγεται Μαριὰμ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ Ἰάκωβος καὶ Ἰωσῆς καὶ Σίμων καὶ Ἰούδας; καὶ αἱ ἀδελφαὶ αὐτοῦ οὐχὶ πᾶσαι πρὸς ἡμᾶς εἰσι; πόθεν οὖν τούτῳ ταῦτα πάντα; καὶ ἐσκανδαλίζοντο ἐν αὐτῷ. ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· οὐκ ἔστι προφήτης ἄτιμος εἰ μὴ ἐν τῇ πατρίδι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ αὐτοῦ. καὶ οὐκ ἐποίησεν ἐκεῖ δυνάμεις πολλὰς διὰ τὴν ἀπιστίαν αὐτῶν.

Τῇ ΚΑʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, μνήμη τῶν Ὁσίων Πατέρων ἡμῶν Ἰωάννου καὶ Συμεὼν τοῦ διὰ Χριστὸν σαλοῦ.
Por sus santas intercesiones, oh Dios, ten piedad de nosotros. Amén.
By their holy intercessions, O God, have mercy on us. Amen.
