Hermanos, todos los que se dejan guiar por el Espíritu de Dios son hijos de Dios. Y ustedes no han recibido un espíritu de esclavos para recaer en el temor; antes bien, han recibido un espíritu de hijos adoptivos que nos hace exclamar: ¡Abbá, Padre! El Espíritu mismo se une a nuestro espíritu para dar testimonio de que somos hijos de Dios. Y, si hijos, también herederos: herederos de Dios y coherederos de Cristo, si compartimos sus sufrimientos, para ser también con él glorificados. Porque estimo que los sufrimientos del tiempo presente no son comparables con la gloria que se ha de manifestar en nosotros. Pues la ansiosa espera de la creación desea vivamente la revelación de los hijos de Dios. La creación, en efecto, fue sometida a la caducidad, no espontáneamente, sino por aquel que la sometió, en la esperanza de ser liberada de la esclavitud de la corrupción para participar en la gloriosa libertad de los hijos de Dios. Brethren, all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God. En aquel tiempo, cuando Jesús se iba de allí, al pasar vio a un hombre llamado Mateo, sentado en el despacho de impuestos, y le dijo: «Sígueme.» Él se levantó y le siguió. En cierta ocasión, estando él a la mesa en la casa, vinieron muchos publicanos y pecadores, que se sentaron a la mesa con Jesús y sus discípulos. Al verlo los fariseos, dijeron a los discípulos: «¿Por qué come su maestro con los publicanos y pecadores?» Mas él, al oírlo, dijo: «No necesitan médico los que están fuertes, sino los que están mal. Vayan, pues, a aprender qué significa ‘Misericordia quiero, que no sacrificio’. Porque no he venido a llamar a justos, sino a pecadores.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, as Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. And as he sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” [RSV]
