Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Timoteo, hijo mío, es cierta y digna de ser aceptada por todos esta afirmación: Si nos fatigamos y luchamos es porque tenemos puesta la esperanza en Dios vivo, que es el Salvador de todos los hombres, principalmente de los creyentes. Predica y enseña estas cosas. Que nadie menosprecie tu juventud. Procura, en cambio, ser para los creyentes modelo en la palabra, en el comportamiento, en la caridad, en la fe, en la pureza. Hasta que yo llegue, dedícate a la lectura, a la exhortación, a la enseñanza. No descuides el carisma que hay en ti, que se te comunicó por intervención profética mediante la imposición de las manos del colegio de presbíteros. Ocúpate en estas cosas; vive entregado a ellas para que tu aprovechamiento sea manifiesto a todos. [BJ-SAOGM]
Timothy, my son, the saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and suffer reproach, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe. Command and teach these things. En aquel tiempo, había un nutrido número de discípulos suyos y una gran muchedumbre llegada de toda Judea, de Jerusalén y de la región costera de Tiro y Sidón, que habían venido para oír a Jesús y ser curados de sus dolencias. Y los que eran molestados por espíritus inmundos quedaban curados. Toda la gente procuraba tocarle, porque salía de él una fuerza que sanaba a todos. Jesús convocó a los Doce y les dio autoridad y poder sobre todos los demonios, así como para curar dolencias. Después los envió a proclamar el Reino de Dios y a curar, diciendo: «Quien a ustedes los escucha, a mí me escucha; quien a ustedes los rechaza, a mí me rechaza; y quien me rechaza a mí, rechaza al que me ha enviado.» Regresaron los setenta y dos y dijeron alegres: «Señor, hasta los demonios se nos someten en tu nombre.» Él les dijo: «Yo veía a Satanás caer del cielo como un rayo. Miren, les he dado el poder de pisotear serpientes y escorpiones, así como cualquier demostración de fuerza del enemigo; nada les podrá hacer daño. Pero no se alegren de que los espíritus se les sometan; alégrense de que sus nombres estén escritos en los cielos.» En aquel momento, se llenó de gozo Jesús en el Espíritu Santo y dijo: «Yo te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque has ocultado estas cosas a sabios e inteligentes y se las has revelado a gente sencilla. Sí, Padre, pues tal ha sido tu decisión. At that time, there came to Jesus a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all. And he called his twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And he said to them, “He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me, and he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.” The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you: but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” In that same hour Jesus rejoiced in the spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing before you. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
