Hermanos, no quiero que ignoren este misterio, para que no presuman de sabios: el endurecimiento parcial que ha padecido Israel durará hasta que entren todos los gentiles. De ese modo, todo Israel se salvará, como dice la Escritura: ‘Vendrá de Sión el Libertador; alejará de Jacob las impiedades’. Y esta será mi alianza con ellos, cuando haya borrado sus pecados. En cuanto al Evangelio, los israelitas son contrarios para bien de ustedes; pero, en cuanto a la elección, son amados en atención a sus antepasados. Que los dones y la vocación de Dios son irrevocables. En efecto, así como ustedes fueron en otro tiempo rebeldes a Dios, pero ahora han conseguido misericordia a causa de su rebeldía, así también ellos se han rebelado ahora con ocasión de la misericordia que Dios tiene con ustedes, a fin de que también ellos consigan ahora misericordia. Pues Dios encerró a todos los hombres en la rebeldía para tener misericordia con todos ellos. ¡Qué abismo de riqueza, de sabiduría y de ciencia hay en Dios! ¡Cuán insondables son sus designios e inescrutables sus caminos! En efecto, ¿quién conoció el pensamiento de Señor?; ¿quién fue su consejero?; ¿quién le dio primero, que tenga derecho a la recompensa? Porque todas las cosas provienen de él, y son por él y para él. ¡A él la gloria por los siglos! Amén. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, lest you be wise in your own conceits, I want you to understand this mystery: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of Gentiles come in, and so all Israel will be saved; as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As regards the gospel they are enemies of God, for your sake; but as regards election they are beloved for the sake of their fore fathers. For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. Just as you were once disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may receive mercy. For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that he may have mercy upon all. O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen. [RSV]

Ὦ βάθος πλούτου καὶ σοφίας καὶ γνώσεως Θεοῦ! ὡς ἀνεξερεύνητα τὰ κρίματα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνεξιχνίαστοι αἱ ὁδοὶ αὐτοῦ! τίς γὰρ ἔγνω νοῦν Κυρίου; ἢ τίς σύμβουλος αὐτοῦ ἐγένετο; ἢ τίς προέδωκεν αὐτῷ, καὶ ἀνταποδοθήσεται αὐτῷ; ὅτι ἐξ αὐτοῦ καὶ δι᾿ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς αὐτὸν τὰ πάντα. αὐτῷ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας· ἀμήν.

En aquel tiempo, un sábado en que Jesús cruzaba por los sembrados, sus discípulos sintieron hambre y se pusieron a arrancar espigas y a comerlas. Al verlo los fariseos, le dijeron: «Mira, tus discípulos hacen lo que no es lícito hacer en sábado.» Pero él les respondió: «¿No han leído lo que hizo David cuando sintieron hambre él y los que lo acompañaban, cómo entró en la Casa de Dios y comieron los panes de la Presencia, que no le era lícito comer a él ni a sus compañeros, sino sólo a los sacerdotes? ¿Tampoco han leído en la Ley que en día de sábado los sacerdotes, en el Templo, quebrantan el sábado sin incurrir en culpa? Pues yo les digo que hay aquí algo mayor que el Templo. Si hubieran comprendido lo que significa ‘Misericordia quiero, que no sacrificio’, no condenarían a los que no han incurrido en culpa. Porque el Hijo del hombre es señor del sábado.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus went through the grain fields on the sabbath; his disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the sabbath.” He said to them, “Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the law how on the sabbath the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are guiltless? I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is lord of the sabbath.” [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ ἐπορεύθη ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοῖς σάββασι διὰ τῶν σπορίμων· οἱ δὲ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπείνασαν, καὶ ἤρξαντο τίλλειν στάχυας καὶ ἐσθίειν. οἱ δὲ Φαρισαῖοι ἰδόντες εἶπον αὐτῷ· ἰδοὺ οἱ μαθηταί σου ποιοῦσιν ὃ οὐκ ἔξεστι ποιεῖν ἐν σαββάτῳ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς· οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε τί ἐποίησε Δαυῒδ ὅτε ἐπείνασεν αὐτὸς καὶ οἱ μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ; πῶς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους τῆς προθέσεως ἔφαγεν, οὓς οὐκ ἐξὸν ἦν αὐτῷ φαγεῖν οὐδὲ τοῖς μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ, εἰ μὴ μόνοις τοῖς ἱερεῦσι; ἢ οὐκ ἀνέγνωτε ἐν τῷ νόμῳ ὅτι τοῖς σάββασιν οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τὸ σάββατον βεβηλοῦσι, καὶ ἀναίτιοί εἰσι; λέγω δὲ ὑμῖν ὅτι τοῦ ἱεροῦ μεῖζόν ἐστιν ὧδε. εἰ δὲ ἐγνώκειτε τί ἐστιν ἔλεον θέλω καὶ οὐ θυσίαν, οὐκ ἂν κατεδικάσατε τοὺς ἀναιτίους. κύριος γάρ ἐστιν ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου καὶ τοῦ σαββάτου.

Τῇ Δʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνός, Μνήμη, τοῦ ἐν Ἁγίοις Πατρὸς ἡμῶν Ἀνδρέου Κρήτης, τοῦ Ἱεροσολυμίτου.
Por sus santas intercesiones, oh Dios, ten piedad de nosotros. Amén.
