Hermanos, voy a decirles algo a ustedes, los gentiles: Yo estoy orgulloso de mi ministerio como verdadero apóstol de los gentiles, pero lo llevo a cabo con la esperanza de despertar celos en los de mi raza y salvar a alguno de ellos. Porque, si su rechazo ha supuesto la reconciliación del mundo, ¿qué será su readmisión, sino una resurrección de entre los muertos? Si las primicias son santas, también la masa; y si la raíz es santa, también las ramas. Que si algunas ramas del olivo original fueron desgajadas, mientras tú —olivo silvestre— fuiste injertado en su lugar, participando con ellas de la raíz y de la savia del olivo, eso no te da derecho a engreírte contra las ramas. Y si te engríes, sábete que no eres tú quien sostiene la raíz; es ella la que te sostiene a ti. Es posible que pienses: Las ramas fueron desgajadas para que yo fuera injertado. ¡Muy bien! Es cierto que fueron desgajadas por su incredulidad, y que tú te mantienes por la fe. ¡Pero no te engrías! Más bien, teme. Que, si Dios no perdonó a las ramas naturales, ¡a ver si tampoco a ti te va a perdonar! Así pues, ten presente que Dios es bueno, pero también severo: severo con los que cayeron; bueno contigo, si es que te mantienes en la bondad. De otro modo, también tú serás desgajado. En cuanto a ellos, si no se obstinan en la incredulidad, serán reinjertados, pues poderoso es Dios para injertarlos de nuevo. Pues si tú, que eras por naturaleza un olivo silvestre, fuiste injertado, en contra de tu naturaleza, en un olivo cultivado, ¡con cuánta más razón ellos, según su naturaleza, serán reinjertados en su propio olivo. Brethren, I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order to make my own people jealous, and thus save some of them. For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead? If the dough offered as first fruits is holy, so is the whole lump; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in their place to share the root and the richness of the olive tree, do not boast over the branches. If you do boast, remember it is not you that support the root, but the root that supports you. You will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand fast only through faith. So do not become proud, but stand in awe. For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness; otherwise you too will be cut off. And even the others, if they do not persist in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. For if you have been cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these natural branches be grafted back into their own olive tree. Ἀδελφοί, ὑμῖν λέγω τοῖς ἔθνεσιν. ἐφ᾿ ὅσον μέν εἰμι ἐγὼ ἐθνῶν ἀπόστολος, τὴν διακονίαν μου δοξάζω, εἴ πως παραζηλώσω μου τὴν σάρκα καὶ σώσω τινὰς ἐξ αὐτῶν. εἰ γὰρ ἡ ἀποβολὴ αὐτῶν καταλλαγὴ κόσμου, τίς ἡ πρόσληψις εἰ μὴ ζωὴ ἐκ νεκρῶν; εἰ δὲ ἡ ἀπαρχὴ ἁγία, καὶ τὸ φύραμα· καὶ εἰ ἡ ῥίζα ἁγία, καὶ οἱ κλάδοι. Εἰ δέ τινες τῶν κλάδων ἐξεκλάσθησαν, σὺ δὲ ἀγριέλαιος ὢν ἐνεκεντρίσθης ἐν αὐτοῖς καὶ συγκοινωνὸς τῆς ῥίζης καὶ τῆς πιότητος τῆς ἐλαίας ἐγένου, μὴ κατακαυχῶ τῶν κλάδων· εἰ δὲ κατακαυχᾶσαι, οὐ σὺ τὴν ῥίζαν βαστάζεις, ἀλλ᾿ ἡ ῥίζα σέ. ἐρεῖς οὖν· ἐξεκλάσθησαν οἱ κλάδοι, ἵνα ἐγὼ ἐγκεντρισθῶ. καλῶς· τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ ἐξεκλάσθησαν, σὺ δὲ τῇ πίστει ἕστηκας. μὴ ὑψηλοφρόνει, ἀλλὰ φοβοῦ· εἰ γὰρ ὁ Θεὸς τῶν κατὰ φύσιν κλάδων οὐκ ἐφείσατο, μή πως οὐδὲ σοῦ φείσεται. ἴδε οὖν χρηστότητα καὶ ἀποτομίαν Θεοῦ, ἐπὶ μὲν τοὺς πεσόντας ἀποτομίαν, ἐπὶ δὲ σὲ χρηστότητα, ἐὰν ἐπιμείνῃς τῇ χρηστότητι· ἐπεὶ καὶ σὺ ἐκκοπήσῃ. καὶ ἐκεῖνοι δέ, ἐὰν μὴ ἐπιμείνωσι τῇ ἀπιστίᾳ, ἐγκεντρισθήσονται· δυνατὸς γὰρ ὁ Θεός ἐστι πάλιν ἐγκεντρίσαι αὐτούς, εἰ γὰρ σὺ ἐκ τῆς κατὰ φύσιν ἐξεκόπης ἀγριελαίου καὶ παρὰ φύσιν ἐνεκεντρίσθης εἰς καλλιέλαιον, πόσῳ μᾶλλον οὗτοι οἱ κατὰ φύσιν ἐγκεντρισθήσονται τῇ ἰδίᾳ ἐλαίᾳ;

Dijo el Señor a sus discípulos: «Mi Padre me ha entregado todo, y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre; ni al Padre le conoce nadie, sino el Hijo y aquel a quien el Hijo se lo quiera revelar. Vengan a mí todos los que están fatigados y sobrecargados, y yo les proporcionaré descanso. Tomen sobre ustedes mi yugo, y aprendan de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallarán descanso para sus almas. Porque mi yugo es suave y mi carga ligera.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to his disciples, “All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” [RSV]
Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος τοῖς ἑαυτοῦ μαθηταῖς· Πάντα μοι παρεδόθη ὑπὸ τοῦ πατρός μου· καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐπιγινώσκει τὸν υἱὸν εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ, οὐδὲ τὸν πατέρα τις ἐπιγινώσκει εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς καὶ ᾧ ἐὰν βούληται ὁ υἱὸς ἀποκαλύψαι. Δεῦτε πρός με πάντες οἱ κοπιῶντες καὶ πεφορτισμένοι, κἀγὼ ἀναπαύσω ὑμᾶς. ἄρατε τὸν ζυγόν μου ἐφ᾿ ὑμᾶς καὶ μάθετε ἀπ᾿ ἐμοῦ, ὅτι πρᾷός εἰμι καὶ ταπεινὸς τῇ καρδίᾳ, καὶ εὑρήσετε ἀνάπαυσιν ταῖς ψυχαῖς ὑμῶν· ὁ γὰρ ζυγός μου χρηστὸς καὶ τὸ φορτίον μου ἐλαφρόν ἐστιν.
