Hermanos, si por el delito de uno reinó la muerte por un hombre ¡con cuánta más razón los que reciben en abundancia la gracia y el don de la justicia, reinarán en la vida por uno, por Jesucristo! Así pues, como el delito de uno atrajo sobre todos los hombres la condenación, así también la obra de justicia de uno procura a todos la justificación que da la vida. En efecto, así como por la desobediencia de un hombre, todos fueron constituidos pecadores, así también por la obediencia de uno todos serán constituidos justos. La ley, en verdad, intervino para que abundara el delito; pero donde abundó el pecado, sobreabundó la gracia; así, lo mismo que el pecado reinó por la muerte, así también reinara la gracia en virtud de la justicia para vida eterna por Jesucristo nuestro Señor. ¿Qué diremos, pues? ¿Que debemos permanecer en el pecado para que la gracia se multiplique? ¡De ningún modo! Brethren, if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. Then as one man’s trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one man’s act of righteousness leads to acquittal and life for all men. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by one man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Law came in, to increase the trespass; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? [RSV]

Días vendrán en que les será arrebatado el novio; entonces ayunarán. Nadie echa un remiendo de paño nuevo en un vestido viejo, porque lo añadido tira del vestido, y se produce un desgarrón peor. Ni tampoco se echa vino nuevo en vasijas viejas; pues de otro modo, las vasijas revientan, el vino se derrama, y las vasijas se echan a perder; sino que el vino nuevo se echa en vasijas nuevas, y así ambos se conservan.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, the disciples of John came to Jesus, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come, when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. And no one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins; if it is, the skins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the skins are destroyed; but new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.” [RSV]
