Por aquellos días, Agripa dijo a Pablo: «Se te permite hablar en tu favor.» Entonces Pablo extendió su mano y empezó su defensa: «En este empeño me dirigí a Damasco con plenos poderes y la autorización de los sumos sacerdotes. Al mediodía, yendo de camino vi, majestad, una luz que venía del cielo, más resplandeciente que el sol, que me envolvió a mí y a mis compañeros en su resplandor. Caímos todos a tierra y pude oír una voz que me decía en lengua hebrea: ‘Saúl, Saúl, ¿por qué me persigues? Te va a resultar duro dar coces contra el aguijón.’ Yo respondí: ‘¿Quién eres, Señor?’ El Señor me dijo: ‘Yo soy Jesús, a quien tú persigues. Pero levántate, ponte en pie. Me he aparecido a ti para constituirte servidor y testigo tanto de las cosas que de mí has visto como de las que te manifestaré. Yo te libraré de tu pueblo y de los gentiles a los que te envío, para que les abras los ojos, para que vuelvan de las tinieblas a la luz y del poder de Satanás a Dios, y para que reciban el perdón de los pecados y participen de la herencia de los santificados, mediante la fe en mí’. Así pues, rey Agripa, no fui desobediente a la visión celestial, pues he predicado a todos que se conviertan y se vuelvan a Dios, haciendo obras dignas de un convertido. Primero me dirigí a los habitantes de Damasco, después a los de Jerusalén y a los del país de Judea, y también a los gentiles.» [BJ-SAOGM]
In those days, King Agrippa said to Paul, “You have permission to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and made his defense: “I journeyed to Damascus with the authority and commission of the chief priests. At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining round me and those who journeyed with me. And when we had all fallen to the ground, I heard a voice saying to me in the Hebrew language, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It hurts you to kick against the goads.’ And I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand upon your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you to serve and bear witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, delivering you from the people and from the Gentiles — to whom I send you to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ After that, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, but declared first to those at Damascus, then at Jerusalem and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God and perform deeds worthy of their repentance.” [RSV]

Dijo el Señor a los judíos que vinieron a Él: «En verdad, en verdad les digo: el que no entra por la puerta en el redil de las ovejas, sino que escala por otro lado, ése es un ladrón y un salteador; pero el que entra por la puerta es pastor de las ovejas. A éste le abre el portero, y las ovejas escuchan su voz; y a sus ovejas las llama una por una y las saca fuera. Cuando ha sacado todas las suyas, va delante de ellas, y las ovejas le siguen, porque conocen su voz. Pero no seguirán a un extraño, sino que huirán de él, porque no conocen la voz de los extraños.» Jesús les dijo esta parábola, pero ellos no comprendieron lo que les hablaba. Entonces Jesús les dijo de nuevo: «En verdad, en verdad les digo: yo soy la puerta de las ovejas. Todos los que han venido delante de mí son ladrones y salteadores; pero las ovejas no los escucharon. Yo soy la puerta; si uno entra por mí, estará a salvo; entrará y saldrá y encontrará pasto.» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to the Jews who had come to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed them. I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” [RSV]
