Por aquellos días, Pedro marchó a la casa de María, la madre de Juan, por sobrenombre Marcos, donde se hallaban muchos reunidos en oración. Llamó a la puerta del vestíbulo y salió a abrirle una sirvienta llamada Rosa. Ésta reconoció la voz de Pedro, pero fue tal su alegría que no le abrió, sino que entró corriendo a anunciar que Pedro estaba a la puerta. Ellos le dijeron: «Estás loca.» Pero ella insistía en que era verdad. Los otros comentaban: «Será su ángel.» Pedro entretanto seguía llamando. Al abrir la puerta y verlo, quedaron atónitos. Él les hizo señas con la mano para que no levantasen la voz, y les contó cómo el Señor lo había sacado de la cárcel. Antes de irse les dijo: «Comuniquen esto a Santiago y a los hermanos.» A continuación salió y marchó a otro lugar. [BJ-SAOGM]
In those days, Peter went to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose other name was Mark, where many were gathered together and were praying. And when he knocked at the door of the gateway, a maid named Rhoda came to answer. Recognizing Peter’s voice, in her joy she did not open the gate but ran and told that Peter was standing at the gate. They said to her, “You are mad.” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel!” But Peter continued knocking; and when they opened, they saw him and were amazed. But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Tell this to James and to the brethren.” Then he departed and went to another place. [RSV]

Dijo el Señor a los judíos que vinieron a Él: «Si Dios fuera su Padre, me amarían a mí, porque yo he salido y vengo de Dios; no he venido por mi cuenta, sino que él me ha enviado. ¿Por qué no reconocen mi lenguaje? Porque están impedidos para escuchar mi palabra. Ustedes son hijos de su padre el diablo, y quieren cumplir los deseos de su padre. Éste fue homicida desde el principio, y no se mantuvo en la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él; cuando dice la mentira, dice lo que le sale de dentro, porque es mentiroso y padre de la mentira. Pero a mí, como les digo la verdad, no me creen. ¿Quién de ustedes puede probar que soy pecador? Si digo la verdad, ¿por qué no me creen? El que es de Dios escucha las palabras de Dios; ustedes no las escuchan, porque no son de Dios.» Los judíos le respondieron: «¿No decimos, con razón, que eres samaritano y que tienes un demonio?» Respondió Jesús: «Yo no tengo un demonio, sino que honro a mi Padre; y ustedes me deshonran a mí. Pero yo no busco mi gloria; ya hay quien la busca y juzga. En verdad, en verdad les digo que si alguno guarda mi palabra, no gustará la muerte jamás.» Le dijeron los judíos: «Ahora estamos seguros de que tienes un demonio. Abrahán murió, y también los profetas; y tú dices: ‘Si alguno guarda mi palabra, no probará la muerte jamás.’» [BJ-SAOGM]
The Lord said to the Jews who came to him, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God, and now I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But, because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God; the reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” Jesus answered, “I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it and he will be the judge. Truly, truly, I say to you, if any one keeps my word, he will never see death.” The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, as did the prophets; and you say, ‘If any one keeps my word, he will never taste death.’” [RSV]
