Αʹ Ιω 1:1 – 7
Lo que existía desde el principio, lo que hemos oído, lo que hemos visto con nuestros ojos, lo que contemplamos y palparon nuestras manos acerca de la Palabra de vida, se lo anunciamos. En efecto, la Vida se manifestó, y nosotros, que la hemos visto, damos testimonio y les anunciamos la Vida eterna, que estaba junto al Padre y que se nos manifestó. Les anunciamos lo que hemos visto y oído, para que también ustedes estén en comunión con nosotros. Nosotros estamos en comunión con el Padre y con su Hijo Jesús Cristo. Les escribimos esto para que nuestro gozo sea completo. Y éste es el mensaje que hemos oído de él y que les anunciamos: Dios es Luz, y en él no hay tiniebla alguna. Si decimos que estamos en comunión con él, pero resulta que caminamos en tinieblas, estamos mintiendo y no actuamos conforme a la verdad. Pero si caminamos en la luz, tal como él mismo está en la luz, estamos en comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de su Hijo Jesús nos purifica de todo pecado. [BJ-SAOGM]
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life — the life was made manifest, and we saw it, and testify to it, and proclaim to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made manifest to us — that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. And we are writing this that our joy may be complete. This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. Ὃ ἦν ἀπ᾿ ἀρχῆς, ὃ ἀκηκόαμεν, ὃ ἑωράκαμεν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν, ὃ ἐθεασάμεθα καὶ αἱ χεῖρες ἡμῶν ἐψηλάφησαν, περὶ τοῦ λόγου τῆς ζωῆς· — καὶ ἡ ζωὴ ἐφανερώθη, καὶ ἑωράκαμεν καὶ μαρτυροῦμεν καὶ ἀπαγγέλλομεν ὑμῖν τὴν ζωὴν τὴν αἰώνιον, ἥτις ἦν πρὸς τὸν πατέρα καὶ ἐφανερώθη ἡμῖν· — ὃ ἑωράκαμεν καὶ ἀκηκόαμεν, ἀπαγγέλλομεν ὑμῖν, ἵνα καὶ ὑμεῖς κοινωνίαν ἔχητε μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν· καὶ ἡ κοινωνία δὲ ἡ ἡμετέρα μετὰ τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ μετὰ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ. Καὶ ταῦτα γράφομεν ὑμῖν, ἵνα ἡ χαρὰ ἡμῶν ᾖ πεπληρωμένη. Καὶ αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ ἐπαγγελία ἣν ἀκηκόαμεν ἀπ᾿ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀναγγέλλομεν ὑμῖν, ὅτι ὁ Θεὸς φῶς ἐστι καὶ σκοτία ἐν αὐτῷ οὐκ ἔστιν οὐδεμία. ἐὰν εἴπωμεν ὅτι κοινωνίαν ἔχομεν μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῷ σκότει περιπατῶμεν, ψευδόμεθα καὶ οὐ ποιοῦμεν τὴν ἀλήθειαν· ἐὰν δὲ ἐν τῷ φωτὶ περιπατῶμεν, ὡς αὐτός ἐστιν ἐν τῷ φωτί, κοινωνίαν ἔχομεν μετ᾿ ἀλλήλων, καὶ τὸ αἷμα Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ καθαρίζει ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἁμαρτίας.

En aquel tiempo, junto a la cruz de Jesús estaban su madre y la hermana de su madre, María, mujer de Clopás, y María Magdalena. Jesús, viendo a su madre y junto a ella al discípulo a quien amaba, dijo a su madre: «Mujer, ahí tienes a tu hijo.» Luego dijo al discípulo: «Ahí tienes a tu madre.» Y desde aquella hora el discípulo la acogió en su casa. Éste es el discípulo que da testimonio de estas cosas y que las ha escrito, y nosotros sabemos que su testimonio es verdadero. Hay además otras muchas cosas que hizo Jesús. Si se pusieran por escrito una por una, pienso que ni todo el mundo bastaría para contener los libros que se escribieran. Amén. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. This is the disciple who is bearing witness to these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his testimony is true. But there are also many other things which Jesus did; were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. [RSV]
Τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ εἱστήκεισαν παρὰ τῷ σταυρῷ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἡ ἀδελφὴ τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ, Μαρία ἡ τοῦ Κλωπᾶ καὶ Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνή. Ἰησοῦς οὖν ἰδὼν τὴν μητέρα καὶ τὸν μαθητὴν παρεστῶτα ὃν ἠγάπα, λέγει τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ· γύναι, ἴδε ὁ υἱός σου. εἶτα λέγει τῷ μαθητῇ· ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου. καὶ ἀπ᾽ ἐκείνης τῆς ὥρας ἔλαβεν ὁ μαθητὴς αὐτὴν εἰς τὰ ἴδια. Οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ μαθητὴς ὁ μαρτυρῶν περὶ τούτων καὶ γράψας ταῦτα, καὶ οἴδαμεν ὅτι ἀληθής ἐστιν ἡ μαρτυρία αὐτοῦ. ἔστι δὲ καὶ ἄλλα πολλὰ ὅσα ἐποίησεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς, ἅτινα ἐὰν γράφηται καθ᾽ ἕν, οὐδὲ αὐτὸν οἶμαι τὸν κόσμον χωρῆσαι τὰ γραφόμενα βιβλία. ἀμήν.

El 8 de mayo conmemoramos al santo y glorioso apóstol y evangelista Juan el Teólogo, virgen, amado discípulo, y amigo del corazón de Cristo. También celebramos la sinaxis en honor al santo polvo, es decir, el maná, que brotó del sepulcro de Juan.
On May 8 we commemorate the holy and glorious Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, the Virgin and Beloved Bosom Friend of Christ, and celebrate the service in honor of the Holy Dust, that is, the Manna, that issued from his grave.
Τῇ Ηʹ τοῦ αὐτοῦ μηνὸς μνήμη τοῦ Ἁγίου ἐνδόξου Ἀποστόλου καὶ Εὐαγγελιστοῦ, ἐπιστηθίου φίλου, ἠγαπημένου καὶ παρθένου, Ἰωάννου τοῦ Θεολόγου, ἤτοι ἡ σύναξις τῆς Ἁγίας κόνεως τῆς ἐκπεμπομένης ἐκ τοῦ τάφου αὐτοῦ, ἤγουν τοῦ μάννα.
Por sus santas intercesiones, Cristo Dios, ten piedad de nosotros. Amén.
By their holy intercessions, O God, have mercy on us. Amen.
