Only-begotten Son and Logos of God, being immortal, You condescended for our salvation to take flesh from the holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary and, without change, became man. Christ, our God, You were crucified and conquered death by death. Being one of the Holy Trinity, glorified with the Father and the Holy Spirit: Save us.

Hermanos, no les escribo un mandamiento nuevo, sino el mandamiento antiguo, que ya conocen desde el principio. Este mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que han escuchado. Sin embargo, les escribo un mandamiento nuevo —verdadero en él y en ustedes—, pues las tinieblas pasan y la luz verdadera ya está brillando. Quien dice que está en la luz, pero aborrece a su hermano, sigue todavía en tinieblas. Quien ama a su hermano permanece en la luz y no tropieza. Pero quien aborrece a su hermano vive y camina entre tinieblas, sin saber a dónde va, porque las tinieblas han cegado sus ojos. Les escribo a ustedes, hijos míos, porque sus pecados han sido perdonados en virtud de su nombre. Les escribo a ustedes, padres, porque ya conocen al que existe desde el principio. Brethren, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you have heard. En aquel tiempo, estando Jesús en Betania, en casa de Simón el leproso, recostado a la mesa, vino una mujer que traía un frasco de alabastro con perfume puro de nardo, de mucho precio; quebró el frasco y lo derramó sobre su cabeza. Algunos de los presentes comentaban entre sí indignados: «¿Para qué este despilfarro de perfume? Se podía haber vendido este perfume por más de trescientos denarios y habérselos dado a los pobres.» Y refunfuñaban contra ella. Mas Jesús dijo: «Déjenla. ¿Por qué la molestan, si ha hecho una obra buena conmigo? Porque pobres tendrán siempre con ustedes y podrán hacerles bien cuando quieran, pero a mí no me tendrán siempre. Ha hecho lo que ha podido. Se ha anticipado a embalsamar mi cuerpo para el entierro. Yo les aseguro que dondequiera que se proclame la Buena Nueva, en el mundo entero, se hablará también de lo que ésta ha hecho, para que su recuerdo perdure.» [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, while Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head. But there were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment thus wasted? For this ointment might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and given to the poor.” And they reproached her. But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you will, you can do good to them; but you will not always have me. She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burying. And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.” [RSV]

Digno es, en verdad, aclamarte a ti, Theotokos, la siempre bienaventurada e inmaculada, y Madre de nuestro Dios. A la más honorable que los querubines y más gloriosa, incomparablemente que los serafines; a ti, la que incorruptamente, diste a luz al Verbo de Dios, a la verdaderamente Theotokos, te exaltamos.
It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
