Hermanos, teniendo un gran sumo sacerdote que penetró los cielos —Jesús, el Hijo de Dios—, mantengamos nuestra confesión de fe. Pues no tenemos un sumo sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras flaquezas, ya que ha sido probado en todo como nosotros, excepto en el pecado. Acerquémonos, por tanto, confiadamente al trono de gracia, a fin de alcanzar misericordia y encontrar el favor de un auxilio oportuno. Todo sumo sacerdote está tomado de entre los hombres y constituido en favor de la gente en lo que se refiere a Dios, para ofrecer dones y sacrificios por los pecados. Es capaz de comprender a ignorantes y extraviados, porque también él se halla envuelto en flaqueza; y, a causa de la misma, debe ofrecer por sus propios pecados lo mismo que por los del pueblo. Y nadie puede arrogarse tal dignidad, a no ser que sea llamado por Dios, como Aarón. De igual modo, tampoco Cristo se atribuyó el honor de ser sumo sacerdote, sino que lo recibió de quien le dijo: “Hijo mío eres tú; yo te he engendrado hoy”. También dice en otro lugar: “Tú eres sacerdote para la eternidad, a la manera de Melquisedec”. [BJ-SAOGM]
Brethren, since we have a high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. Because of this he is bound to offer sacrifice for his own sins as well as for those of the people. And one does not take the honor upon himself, but he is called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”; as he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.” [RSV]

Jesús envió a estos doce, después de darles las siguientes instrucciones: «No tomen las rutas de los paganos ni entren en poblados de samaritanos; diríjanse más bien a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel. Vayan y proclamen que el Reino de los Cielos está cerca. Curen enfermos, resuciten muertos, purifiquen leprosos, expulsen demonios. Gratis lo recibieron; denlo gratis. [BJ-SAOGM]
At that time, Jesus called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. It is truly right to bless you, Theotokos, ever blessed, most pure, and Mother of our God. More honorable than the Cherubim, and beyond compare more glorious than the Seraphim, without corruption you gave birth to God the Logos. We magnify you, the true Theotokos.
